Silly me, I was just looking at the exploding numbers, the constant improvement, the slew of commercial support and the backing of big time enterprise players like HP, Novell and IBM and thinking that linux on the desktop was thriving and growing.

Let me ask you for your stats. Can you show me a study done by anybody anywhere that shows that linux adoption on the desktop has stopped or decreasing? If you can't I'll just presume you are talking out of your ass.

Once again. When I call a service providor or a salesman there is a 90+ percent chance that I will get a cell phone. My experience is that around 25-30% of the time I will have some problem whether it's noisy connection, static, or a dropped call. If every static or noisy telephone call ended up with a lost client then comerce in the US would stop.

For example if the SQL server division was spun off on it's own it could never stay in business with 20% or so of the market given the expenses involved in constantly adding new features and adding scalibility.
