Right...but thats not exactly the same as typing "fastboot oem unlock" into adbshell and its done. Most of the people (and mods) here seem to think it is.

  3. Bootloader Unlocking is not Rooting on Just Days After Release, Google's Nexus 4 Has Already Been Rooted · · Score: -1

Bootloader Unlocking enables you to upload different Roms to the device. Rooting means having root access on the Rom, which allows processes to be run which otherwise wouldnt be possible. So, while unlocking is indeed a simple process on nexus devices, getting root is still not. In this case it involves flashing linux tools via an insecure bootloader.

Regular everyday people obviously can`t do the math. They would actually pay less if they bought a phone and a contract that suits their needs seperataly, insted of paying the ridiculous monthly fees for 2 full years that normally come with a subsidized phone.

  13. Looking the other way? on BT Blocks 10,000 Child-Porn Site Visits A Day · · Score: 2, Insightful

Very clever of them indeed... just blocking the site will do absolutely nothing for the children that are being harmed by the respective site owners, and this is not an issue of how easy it is to circumvent the block by using proxies. We are talking about people who distribute content illegal in hopefully almost every country in the world, and they should be punished, not just blocked by ISPs who do it only because they fear for their reputation. Heck, if you can block them you know their IPs, and therefore the owners. Is there no way to shut these sites down? Are governments just being lazy, or ist this an issue of desiderative cooperation between the countries where the servers are hosted and the countries where the site owners live?

  14. Re:PSP vs DS on E3 - Pre-Show Announcements Overwhelm, Entertain · · Score: 1

If there is any winning involved in having 2 great portable devices, the winner in the category "storage medium" is clearly Nintendo, because cartridges don`t drain battery power from the device and so the DS most probably will have a much longer playtime/charge than the PSP which has to do constant disc-spinnning.
