Australia is to adopt the US Imperial measurement system and begin measuring everything in miles, inches and gallons.
Also, the US grammar standard will be adopted, changes will be noticeable to words such as 'color' and 'humor'...
Considering how we don't allow kids to fail at school anymore (heaven forbid if little Johnny's parents found out), are we breeding a society of people who will take the easy way out of everything, because they believe that someone else will take care of things for them?
Linking this to IT, what will these people do if they pursue an IT career, then find it isn't as easy as it seems? I graduated in 2002 with an IS degree, and have not worked a single day in IT, and would kill to get into the industry, yet I believe I'm being kept out by those who have no interest in IT, but can't afford to quit because of the money they earn.
The software industry has to face up to the fact that programming is no longer such a specialist skill.
That's the sort of thinking that will kill the industry. If any hack can write a program, then 90% of the programs out there won't be worth a damn. Worse, programming jobs will disappear because of the notion that any moron with a keyboard can be a programmer.
But the software giant has been a prolific patent generator in other areas. The company embarked on a campaign late last year to generate more revenue from its patent portfolio, offering to license widely used inventions such as its ClearType font technology and FAT storage format.
They can't patent my FAT....not without removing it through lipo-suction or somesuch...
I hope a dingo eats your baby, you insensitive clod!
Yeah I hope...oh wait...
New tool fails to remove biggest piece of malicious software, who remains head of Microsoft...

Best laugh I've had all day. Thank you good sir.
After all, we (meaning our government) has no real choice but to do as the USA says. We're not strong enough to be able to stare down America.

Under Little Johnny, it's definitely ass backwards...
...we have the Big Pineapple, the Tractor Museum and the Giant Koala - and we can't find the money to keep the Computer Museum open?
This country has its priorities ass-backwards.
So should the Marlins hand back their World Series rings?
...that in the near future, stupidity WILL be a crime...
...I'd be expecting gold chains and flashy symbols to come with my new email address...

Can I assume you'll be using the 1st edition as kindling for the fire?
I graduated 18 months ago, and have applied for over 100 jobs - and not ONE single interview...
