I know the US government under Bush is a member of /.'s Big Bad Guys list, but the implication that this is some sort of attempt by the US government to push their laws on other countries is just wrong. In fact, the opposite is true. The Bono copyright extension was merely to bring the duration of a US copyright up to the same length of time as the European Union's copyrights. Even if there were no Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act, the lawsuit could easily come from Europe.

Do they expect people to slow down to walking speed while they are driving down the highway to catch the end of the cricket game (or whatever they watch in Europe)? When would anyone ever be driving at such a slow constant speed? Possibly a parking lot? Thats when you need to be paying the most attention! During a traffic jam? You still need to be paying attention to the road, even though there likely won't be kids running across the road like with a parking lot. Well I'll be sure to check that out, but I'll also stand by my warning. Even if you have a good understanding of statistics and game theory and any other branch of mathematics which may be relevant to the game, chance will always be a big factor. No calculations will help you when your opponent is dealt a better hand than what you think is your winning hand. And more dangerously, what happens when some geek who thinks himself the champ of online poker tries to take his skill into the real world only to find out he has a very obvious tell?

How many guys have lost their house because of a percieved advantage they thought they had? I never said that geeks cannot play poker, just that it is dangerous to exaggerate one's opinion of one's gambling abilities.

First of all, that is why I limited its popularity to a specific group, namely the geek crowd.

We are talking about whether or not the omission of ogg vorbis in the list of supported formats in the /. article summary should have occurred. Thus the only group that should be considered are /. readers, for whom I feel there is sufficient evidence that ogg vorbis is popular (again, read the comments for this very story).

Third, I am not basing this merely on the opinions of /.ers. I know people in the real world as well who use .oggs. In fact I even first heard of .ogg somewhere other than /.

Fourth, yes products that support ogg vorbis are popular. Check out amazon.com's top selling portable music players in the 11-20 GB range, 3 out of 8 support .oggs (the karma and the iRivers).
