    If we had the wherewithal to move to a different (habitable) planet, I suspect that we could also deflect asteroids, break up tsunamis, etc.

    Don't know about longer lasting, but my Athlon-equipped Averatec 3150H is lighter (4.3 vs 5.6 pounds), about as slim. As well as a good deal less expensive.

    And what is this "sheer quality"? I have two AMD machines and a P IV, and the former haven't troubled me too much (at least not the chip set).

    And your /etc/shadow file is GPLed? As that file is not meant for external distrubution, the GPL doesn't compel your company to release it under the GPL.

    Your salary database is released under the GPL? Also, the file permissions on the core system files are not DRM, as the temp could obtain those files from another source. Indeeed, many system files can be read, and therefore copied.

    MS Windows has a good portion of BSD code in the Windows kernel. I know it has some of the TCP/IP stuff, but what else? Also, if that is the case, has such inclusion made Microsoft Windows any better?

    Can one update kernel modules without a reboot? I know that one can remove and insert modules on a running system, but can one get an updated module to work without symbol problems?

    But will the kernel ever be so insecure that virus writers could achieve such levels of exploitation? Remember, if Linux ever gets that popular, there will be more money for kernel development.

    And I've run Excel on a finite data set and had the highest datum listed in the 100th percentile, as well as having data listed in fractional percentiles. Does the current version of Excel do this?

    And how many UNIX users have write access to directories containing executables? What executables would a typical Joe Six-Pack user distribute in the first place? And while free software is not "warez", there's a lot of Linux stuff on the web.

    Maybe, but you still have more exposed cards than with Texas Hold 'Em, which alters the bluffing. Also, you might have more than eight players.
