    What problems have you had burning cds? I find k3b to be simple enough, unless I have to burn bootable cds, in which case I use cdrecord on a command line.

    The tidal forces on an object depend on the difference in gravity at opposites places on the object. The opposite ends of the earth's outer core are much closer to each other than the opposite ends of the earth's surface. Thus the tidal forces exerted on the inner core are less than those exerted on the oceans.

    I have a PhD in Math. And what you allege as art is no more "art" than the drippings of Jackson Pollock.

    I write teaching material in TeX/LaTeX using GNU emacs, some programs (gcc and python, with some web apps in PHP), some Apache (to view web pages/web apps). And, of course, I annoy people on Slashdot. :-)

    I never said anything about the students. I was asking about the responsibility of the admins. Your analogy of the windows is inapposite, as the windows installers (as opposed to Windows installers) took the usual precautions in installing windows. The fragility of the glass is not their fault.

    Except that the people who were paid to maintain those systems put the admin password on a piece of tape attached to those laptops. What responsibility do they bear?
