    It is just there. It is neither for nor against you. Turning your internet connection or WiFi off is, indeed, a good idea.

    I tend to have a similar problem, though not as severe as in the OP's case. When I really need to get some work done, I often go to the National Library, a stately old building in Vienna, and settle for a nice place in a studying room, close to a window with a view upon the garden. Of course, I turn WiFi off. Amazing what one can do in one day.

    Amen, brother. I even make a sort of game out of trying what software actually runs on CUDA cards. Last time I checked, Netbeans 7.3 RC 1 ( or was it 2 ? ) with Java 8 early-release ran flawlessly. With all the Maven projects I tend to have opened simultaneously, saves me about 2 Gb of RAM. And then some Core i7 computing power, much needed elsewhere.

    I thought the security craze in all its blazing public visibility was limited to the UK and a few other European countries ( especially the Netherlands ). The Control State, AAMOF, looks more and more like a "soft" version of a police state. See the Nanny State in GB and NL. But upon reading this, I begin to think that the USA, too, will succomb to this ligth-chocolate-brown dictatorial regime.
