    I am on a project for ( smoke-testing ) the core app. of a major european airport. Same problems there. Management, after having been informed, said: "Not a priority". I guess only their bonuses are "a priority" ? I am thinking seriously of giving pointers to the whole project to Anonymous.

    Molybden(i)um most frigging certainly is NOT a "rare earth element". It belongs to the iron group, along with e.g. Vanadium, Chrome, Nickel and, well, yes, Iron. Molybden(i)um occurs in extractable concentrations on almost all locations where iron ore is abundant.

Document as much as you can, then identify the hottest points, fixing them, one after the other. As you make your way through the mess, your understanding will deepen. Ask if you can hire an intern ( ? ). So, to summarize: 1) get political backing 2) document, document, document 3) fix, in single-tasking mode 4) if necessary, GOTO #1) For your next career move, this is great to have on your CV.

    No, it is not. There is no such thing as a "methodology for finding truths". There is only such a thing as "a broadly shared view upon what constitutes a way to plausibly describe causal relationships". Science is a way to describe the world we live in, including ourselves, in such a way as to yield reliable results. "Reliability" is defined outside of science; as a matter of fact, we are right here and right now engaged in discussing the definition of "reliability". QFD.
