    A daily dosis of sport (good for the condition), enourmous savings on gas and a car, a good feeling because I actually do something about the greenhouse gasses, and - according to my doctor - an additional 6 years of my life in good health (statistically) (if I don't end up under a truck).

    Actually, turning into a smug little twat will reduce your life expectancy not increase it.

    To be fair, the next line of my post you quoted did mention the Dalai Lama, and Taiwan isn't recognized by the UN, etc.

    Thankfully, though, China has way too much control over the west's needs (what we import, is mainly manufactured in China) so we may see some Democratic approach to this situation (for once!).
    I assume you mean Diplomatic approach not Democratic, unless you meant to say that the Chinese will give Al Gore some campaign funds and it will be all ok. And I think you might want to look into what happens after running too high a trade imbalance before you go saying, "Thankfully the west relies on China for all its manufacturing." Oh and if you meant democratic(note lowercase d) solution then what about this statement "Not a lot really. America has a bad opinion of the China regardless, and this will only fuel its attitude.," gives you hope?

    Since the number of countries China has invaded in the past is greater than zero, it is provocative since the US isn't the only country keeping an eye on China's new military might. The other one? I'll give you a hint-Chicken Vindaloo.

    The same reason that Iran's nuclear ambitions are deemed provocative.
    Really? I don't recall in the last 5 years China saying anything about wiping another country off the map.Iran though, I do recall an instance or two. Perhaps I should consult with the Dalai Lama about that first statement.

    The irony of the attempt to introduce a law to prevent the ability from another government agency introducing laws in the area it was set up to oversee is amazing - laws to castrate the law-making powers of a government body?

    Somebody needs to go back and relearn their civics(not the ones from Honda).
    See the FCC is part of the executive branch, it(the FCC) should be executing the laws from Congress(the legislative branch)instead of just making up mandates through some sort of fiat the FCC does not posses. It's all about checks and balances.

    notice in the news that Israel is thought to be preparing a nuclear strike on Irans nuclear facilities with Neutron bombs.

    One problem, neutron bombs tend to release most of their energy not as heat, but you guessed it, NEUTRONS! So use of neutron bombs should lead to less debris being flung into the atmosphere, leading to less than expected sun blockage.

    I don't give a fuck what INSURANCE companies want, they have nothing to do with what does and does not get released in the form of medication and treatment. They just foot the bill.

    If by foot the bill you mean shake everybody down for money, so that the sickest few can afford health care, while making a tidy profit on the side, then yes insurance companies foot the bill

    Yep, those who were accused by someone who couldn't keep their story straight. See, one civil liberty is the whole innocent until proven guilty. See it works for suspected terrorists or suspected rapists.

    otherwise it stays quite conserved, thank you very much, right up to the point it starts to be used to deform the front, the engine, and your knees.
    Except modern vehicles are designed to deform and therefore shed energy in the form of heat, well before the energy is transmitted into the occupant of the vehicle. Also most accidents occur through either distractions or velocity differentials. So you should pull over anyways.

    After Peak oil hits in 2008, without any real alternatives, we'll either not be using our devices much, or we'll be looking at them through the haze of many more coal-fired power plants.

    Energy is proportional to mass times the square of your velocity -- an average car at 70 MPH/110 kph has a lot of momentum.
    Which is a valid point except for two things, 1)Kinetic Energy isn't conserved 2)Momentum is proportional to the velocity not the square of the velocity(K.E. is). Oh the irony of "bad maths"
