      And what research was "Big Govt." funding? That's right kids, it was weapons research. Now what's "Big Govt." funding? Bread and circuses. After all, "Big Govt." isn't some abstract entity no, it is tied to the voters, and grandmas (the only group who votes often) don't care about shiny new rocket ships, she just wants her check to turn into chips to pull the one armed bandit. And no one could honestly say that George W. Bush tried to end "Big Govt."

    Since most of the RIAA members are publicly traded companies, merely check their filings with the SEC and see if they claimed losses due to piracy in the range of the figures they quote to the press and Congress. If a!=b then they "cook" the books. Afterwards do a google search on royality payments, and see if some artists think they might not be getting their cut due to bizarre accounting practices.

    Actually, democracies don't tend to last b/c "the people" or "the mob" figure out they can legislate themselves more "bread and circuses"(or prescription drugs)from the public treasury.

    Did you notice the Italizied text? That was the parent's post I was quoting , so to answer your question, yes I did read the post. I avoided the obvious conspiracy crap, and pointed out the scientific problem with his premise. Good job of adding a non-sequitur(mentioning the ease of finding Hydrogen in places other than plant earth) while accusing me of not paying attention. Touche, or were you not trying to be ironic with But it was also completely irrelevant to what he was talking about. To the chocolate meet peanut butter guy, hydrogen still has energy density problems.

    Take hydrogen. The day someone figures out how to easily produce hydrogen the days of energy monopolies are over - anyone with access to water

    Ok, one last time hydrogen is a carrier of energy not a generator. H20 -> H2 into whatever storage device -> H20(exhaust frm fuel cell) not really going to gain a ton of energy. Sure it's relatively clean(although you are turning a bunch of liq H2O into water vapor) but hydrogen has energy density problems that need to be solved. So basically, stop getting your science info from Keanu Reeves movies.

As for the election, pay no attention to the ill informed "progressives" who believe if the Dems take control of the US Congress it will usher in the age of Aquarius. Trust me, Nov. 8, the factions in Iraq will still be fighting for power, Darfur will still be a disgrace, and entitlement spending will still be heading towards a major meltdown. To quote the Who, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

    It's kind of like sitting back after gorging yourself on multiple plates heaped with food at a huge banquet, and then complaining when someone who arrived late for the feast gets up from the table for their first plate.
    That would be true if you hadn't built the table, grown and prepared the food, and a bunch of guys strolled in to say thanks for the food, but then complained about the sauce. See without the West's help most of the developing nations would still be at a feudal stage.

    Actually, I believe liberal==pejorative came about the time politcal correctness had gone quite so crazy, and everybody and his^H^H^H her/his brother/sister was a hyphenated something or other(eg. vertically-challenged american). Of course the pushing of special group rights over the rights of the individual really didn't help either. And before we started calling them "Greens" the PETA types fell under the Liberal umbrella. Oh and people don't like paying taxes so that's another reason Liberal == bad.

    Uh huh. Gas is over $5 per gallon in a major part of the civilized world, and no one's starving there. Magic ?
    When the price of gas doubles in that part of the civilized world, then perhaps we shall if it is magic. Since we won't make the mistake of comparing apples to oranges, as the post I was replying to was talking about the US where the avg. price ~$2.70 gal, thus the economic shock of an inelastic good doubling in price causing a disruption in the economy. But don't reality ruin that smug feeling, since you missed the other part of my reply, namely this silliness of the private jet crowd crowing about their hybrid vehicles.

    When the gas is 5$ a gallon people will take the bus or buy electric cars, use solar energy etc.
