By accident I got a set of Mindstorms last tuesday. (i mean accident of the Toys'R'US). Having played with it for a few days I can say they are pretty awesome, and I can see a huge potential. Be warned though they are a time sync! Hours go by quickly. Probably it's more stimulating that reading/. comments:) Here is my review complete with a 50 second video of the NXT in action!
Lego Mindstorms NXT review a video
Umm, your prices seem to be a little off, the DS is $130 or about 1/4 to 1/5 the cost of a PS3, $90 in the used market which flourishes. The top of the line 60G ipod is $400, or 2/3 the price of the top of the line PS3. If you have enough money that everything under $1k is about the same that's fine, but some of us are going to be looking to spend $250 on a Wii or $300 on an Xbox because there is a big difference to us.
I had vonage, tried to cancel after 11 months of mediocre service. Refused to cancel without charging a $42 cancelation fee even though they claim month-to-month with no contract. I charged it back and luckily mastercard is sticking up for me, but an incredible hassle! Avoid Vonage like the plauge
It seems like you forgot the drag and drop part, drag firefox off the disk image and into your applications folder (or anywhere else, mac isn't picky about where it's apps go) and you won't have to mount the disk image every time.
I have an HD5000 card in my myth box which spits out perfectly shareable mpeg files that it gets OTA. I could share these if I wanted, but an hour program is 7GB. The old "mail bag full of DVDs" has more bandwidth example is becoming useful again. That card runs about $180, plus you can get an HD-DVR that is in your control.
I know this is a little off topic, but just wanted to rant. Vonage has horrible policies, they claim no contract, but their is a $39.99 fee plus tax! to cancel. I got rid of them for just a cell and they were rude and charged this fee to cancel. I remember when it didn't cost money to stop getting a service. Save yourself some hassle and pass on Vonage.
GPS is here now, both the Nikon D200 and D2x digital SLRs mark location when hooked up to a GPS unit. You can see my review of the D200 here: Nikon D200 Review Although I don't mention this feature exactly. Also the Nikon D2x has voice recording for each image(The D200 does not). Both Cameras allow you to name the images what you want and to capture to different directories on the Flash card. So what you need is a $4500 Nikon D2x, and a GPS unit. Then you have all your needs met. I expect these features will migrate down to consumer models eventually.

I stay safe with a TI 99/4a! Safety features:
1. No known virus
2. Speech synthesizer that rocks (really when you compare everything else in the computer world is 3-7 orders of magnitude better than 1980, why does speech still suck?)
3. OS is on ROM
Disadvantages:
Pron looks bad in ascii or 320x200 4 color screen.
Seriously, older tech may be safer from todays issues, but it's a trade off. Running mac/linux and a firewall I've never been affected either, but I enjoy the luxury of "broadband" at "cheap" prices from "comcast"
(blantent whore)
I have a review of the Nikon D200 on my website loaded with google ads that I shameless ask you to click on, but the review is good. Nikon Stuff Reviews Check it out, leave feedback for me here as I'm always interested in this stuff. Bottom line is that D70 is better than D50, and D200 is better yet, but you already knew that:-p

You know this is a little annoyingly out of date. iPods are expensive, but the 30 and 60G ipods are LESS PER GIG than any other mp3 player. That's right, cheaper for the size you are getting before you start to talk about other features. Which could go both ways. The iPods are actually cheaper per gig than any other option, I'll say it again, outside the shuffle the ipods are cheaper per gig.
Yes! Even in sub-$1k cameras you can get fast response. The Nikon dSLRs usually have times in the 100ms or less time frame. The cheap-o point and shoot will still have this delay, although it is much better than it was a few years back
I have a site with a lot of Nikon reviews, it's a whore out, and I have ads on my site, and I really want you to click on them, but it also has a lot of good Nikon lens reviews and reviews of the latest D200 Nikon Digital SLR body. Film is dead, long live film! Nikon Camera Reviews .
You know film is dead when Playboy started shooting all digital except for the cover and centerfold. Those are still shot with an 8x10 large format camera. The rest are shot with a 22mp medium format digital camera. Ah how pr0n has changed.
I sort of agree here. I think some are looking to be insulted. And the planet of the apes movie is for sure about a fight against racism and had very strong ties to the black movement of the day. (I'm talking the first planet of the apes, not the remake)

I used mambo and then joomla to host a site that I hope some day will compare with the evil Ken Rockwell in the photography world: Everything Photographic While still very beta the site looks good and is easy to maintain. This in my mind is far better than all the sites I've coded by hand in the past. I'm at the point where I feel like the content should take my time, not the coding. Joomla rocks.
This is true in this case, but the opposite is true in others. I can remember a 20 minute phone call from Norfolk,Va to northern virginia costing 6 or 7 dollars. My Dad yelled at me a fair bit ( I was calling a friend who moved in like 6th grade). Now that same call is "free"* with Voip or $1 with the many 5 cents a minute plans out there for land lines. So it's not everything going up, it's some of each.
* I feel ok calling this free because I used to pay verizion $20 a month for the privilege of having a dial tone, now I pay Vonage $16 a month for 500 minutes of calls anywhere.
A system similar to this is in operation at WVU:
Pictures and
story
This is a good system, but it's slow, and showing it's age. But as a prior student at WVU I can say it works much nicer than a bus or other option.
I voted today on Diebold in Md. System worked ok. My "voter admin slip" which is a piece of paper with all my info(name address etc) was marked with which machine I used, so presumably if that machine blue screens or gets EMPed by a clever trouble maker they can call me up and ask what I voted. You could "change you mind in the booth" which I tried out by unclicking and then reclicking a box. At the end you get a nice summary before hitting the commit button. All in all I like this better than paper, but I wish it printed out a little receipt that I put in a box for recount purposes. Here's hoping for the best.
I had my eyes done about 2 years ago. I was in the "Can only see the big E" range of vision before, and now have 20/20 and 20/15. For the first month or so after the operation I had some nighttime blurryness, but it has all cleared up. All in all it's the best 2.5k I've ever spent. Having had the procedure from a reputable guy(University of Maryland eye doctor, a guy who had spent his life doing eye research, not some doc in the box) , I'm not so sure it's worth the extra. At the time places were advertising $699 an eye. It seems most of the process was automated, on the other hand I have no complaints with my vision.
