I have never used Twitter. I have a Facebook account to keep track of people I actually know, mostly old frieds, mybe 50 at most. I do not Facebook with people at work.
The definition of "acquaintance" seems to have changed since I grew up. To me, someone I have never met in human form, nor had any significant conversation with either in person or "on line", is not an "acquaintance".

Social networks are useful. It's about time we wrote and popularized a distributed one, hosted on our own machines rather than dependent on some group of folks to whom we are products, not customers.
The US Government knows that they need SpaceX, and Texas definitely wants SpaceX to stay in Texas, and folks, both for the completely obvious reasons.

You can't post from the iPhone anymore. Mobile Slashdot on safari is horribly broken. At least for me I can't log in or post once I do login. I switch to classic.Slashdot and everything works as normal. Switch back to mobile and it breaks. I don't know why they can't test it. It is not like you can extend mobile safari.
