    Hmm. For print encyclopedias, you rarely know ahead of time exactly which volumes you will need. One entry may reference, or suggest an entry in another volume

    I am actually surprised that Linux machines don't cost more than equivalent Windows machines, for two reasons: Windows machines are often subsidized by software that is added on by the OEM. Additionally, I believe that a machine with a working Linux setup is of more value than a working Windows machine.

    Few other companies could market such a defective line of products for so long so well. Microsoft has the best marketing team that I am aware of.

    People usually point out that the fact that ODF is not the product of only OO.org is in fact a good thing.

    I'm not sure I would call changing how a basic data type is represented to be minor.

    And you know MS would hire hookers with syphilis. I think some people really underestimate Microsoft. They, like most other companies, are in it for the money.

    Hurricanes happen on land too. But then again tornadoes happen on the ocean too. Earthquakes do have little affect on vessels out in the ocean though.

    I don't think so. I am not sure about this yet. Micrsoft, as a company, is very intelligent. They threw a lot of money at OOXML. I may not like their software offerings, but I fully admit Microsoft doesn't just waste money.

    So to recap:

    RedHat is the company who makes OSS work as much as possible, and contributes huge amounts of work to all areas of OSS

    Novel is the company who does a similar amount of work, maybe less, but has a lot of buddy-buddy Microsoft ads all over the internet

    Canonical is the one who produces Ubuntu

    Will get the job very quickly, I can say that from experience. If you must have it it human readable, Python + XML.

    I have intentionally clicked on a google ad, more than once, esp. in Gmail where it is even more targeted. The only reason I didn't buy was due to lack of funds. I'm referring to the single line text ads.
