Forget that it was Google that did this for awhile. Company A was merely following the laws of the land. Company A has, as far as we can tell, zero influence of the laws of that land. How about getting the laws changed instead. Or is Company A breaking the laws going to make everything rosy instead?
I wish cooperations would obey the laws of the lands _more_. Seems counter productive, at least for my wishes when once publicity stunts only harm the ones obeying the laws.
I know there are going to be tons of posts saying the tried Linux on the desktop, etc etc. But I would just like to add my voice as one who has been using Fedora on my desktop for the past few years, quite happily, and not for lack of legal copies of WindowsXP, but because it I prefer the experience. It may not be ready for "the desktop" (which seems subjective) but it is, and has been ready for my desktop.
Apparently, more weapon than controller it is capable of withstanding high speed impact with stationary objects, LCD/plasma TVs, dry wall, idiots, etc.
The fact of the matter is, a lot of these MS technologies will probably find their way into Gnome. Not sure how the average Gnome user feels about that however.
I've been using KDE for a long time and I really like it. There is one thing that annoys me though, I'll find a bug and try to report it, only to be told that I'm not on the latest version. I'll need to upgrade and see if it's still a bug. Well, as much as I'd like to help make KDE better, I'm not going to upgrade my entire OS just to test a bug. They're not very receptive to bug reporting.
Well... KDE isn't an entire OS, as big as it may be. Besides that however... the bug may be of the kind that was likely fixed
Besides that however, have you ever submitted a ticket and got that as a response? This wouldn't be a good thing, but not specific to KDE either
Doesn't this exactly meet the definition of monopoly abuse? Leveraging ones total dominance in one area and wealth achieved by it to enter into another?
The people who get to make up these plans way too much television without getting the moral of the story. It is as if they have armies of interns looking for the most popular of the bad ideas expression in science fiction stories.
Making unbelievable statements while getting rich. I know I couldn't possibly make such a deceitful statement in a public forum. At the very least not for money.
Well, forgetting that they also went with Ubuntu, Kunbuntu and Xubuntu... Fedora is currently a high customizable distribution which seems to be very good at being an upstream distribution. (probably Ubuntu is as good, I am not qualified to say). So a local org can and should start, at the very least, a SIG in Fedora to make and support local spin of Fedora.

What about Google maps and the redacted areas of places the USA considers sensitive?

I dropped my Hotmail the few months ago. What did you find difficult? Maybe I can offer tips.
So if the latest version of Firefox doesn't have the problem... why do you assign blame to the Gmail interface?

So how do you explain MacOS then.
Seems to me that the punishments are higher than the average criminal punishment

I like the dudes comment about KDE not neing a Linux desktop but just an open source desktop environment.

1hr to install, as long as I want to customize look and feel to my hearts content.
if it does, then it will be pointless. I like the whitespace thank you very much.

awe. poor pity.
So you don't have a single feature that those of us using Linux as our desktop OS don't have. Did you at least get Windows Vista for free?
Here's my list of Microsoft products that I like (and I have used _alot_ of their software)

Frankly don't care what Bill Gates has to say, unless it has to do with growing my business using whatever methods it takes.

why can't taxes pay for medical research? (not that I trust the government that much) but it seems like it's as much in the public good as good roads.
Publicity I guess. Although they claimed it was interoperability.
