I just hope all the Novel people behind all these moves are willing to be held responsible in some non-abstract form if all this dealings with Microsoft goes south. I can't think of any way that these deals would not benefit Microsoft, however I can think of how things can go wrong enough that it affects me way over here in Fedora. So I just hope that Mr. Miguel de Icaza and company will hold themselves accountable.
Easily done: stop putting obvious warning labels like "don't put your hand in the electric socket" or "don't swallow this bottle of drain cleaner" or "don't put this piece of plastic into your mouth".
Don't Google's sponsored links say "Sponsored Links" right next to them? They also have a different background which is visible even on my low contrast display. Anything more would make it look obnoxious I think.
Well at least you qualified it by saying in your opinion. Just to share mine, having used PHP and ASP.net, I rather work with PHP for free than be paid to use ASP.NET. I do use both however.
If bandwidth requirements are low, I wouldn't mind joining the pool. But my ip is semi-dynamic: dynamically assigned, but rarely changes. I use DynDNS to get it.
The US Government will gladly take/steal technology however they can, but they always have this hissy fit when when another country is trying to advance their own technology, directly, or indirectly.
Sorry can't agree with that, at least not totally. Then again, I wouldn't get a internet service with a monthly quota and not click the check box to use encryption.
Contestants arms strapped to the machine? Is letting go not an option? There must be fair amount of pressure before one breaks their arm in such a fashion - it isn't some high impulse force.
The house metaphor is bad. To get to the open door, one has to enter the persons property, which is trespassing. To get the unsecured wireless, you don't have to trespass.
How do you equate using video ads on a video site to generate revenue for an otherwise free service to be evil? I can think of much more evils than that (even relegating that terms use to describe the actions of corporations)
listing all the individuals, organizations, and businesses who are caught doing this. The name of the individuals, along with whom they represent should be posted clearly on a wiki page.

These sensational headlines are kinda getting boring.
How would you propose doing a background check on every word submitted by every potential advertiser to any one advertiser?
So Company A needs to sue Company B for trademark infringement, regardless of the advertising medium.

How much are they being paid?
Do you have a choice of receiving .doc files?

It would be nice if Slashdot added a feature in which a post could be modded down enough that it was actually deleted (lazy deletion at least)
I have multiple installations of CentOS5 with SELinux, and I have never experienced this.
You could always just see for yourself.
Seems like you totally missed the point. I didn't get it till I looked at the video demo.

It is really kinda sad.

So your view is that this should illegal? How many years should he get?
to use on Linux, after having paid for the appropriate hardware? Or are we required to pay for the hardware + Windows + software + disk?
