I wouldn't go so far as to say that. You seem to think that because video games are primarily made to entertain and make money, that's all they'll ever be capable of.
I disagree because video games are a hybrid of different artistic mediums(artwork, music, writing, drama) that give you a lot of leeway to express yourself. The problem is, video games are difficult and time-consuming to produce, and homebrew movement aside, the only finished work comes from well-funded teams that are trying to create a product to sell.
That's why I think the various homebrew console-hacking movements are so neat and important. I also think that the first games to fully qualify as 'art' wont be very state-of-the-art, but 2d style on antiquated systems like the NES.

Aren't there a lot of P2P programs that already prevent being traced? I don't think I like the idea of not having full control over what I'm getting, and I'd be willing to bet a lot of people feel the same way.
It just goes to show how ineffective this broken moderation system is, the fact that I can view comments like this.
Would you care to tell us how these p2p programs "prevent being traced?" Do we care that you don't "like the idea" of this or that, or need to know who's opinions you're "betting on?"
I've viewed your posting history, and you've said some very dumb things. A lot of your posts have been erroneously promoted with "mod points."

This parent needs to be seen by the beauracratic hand-wringers and assorted whiners. If there's any red tape set up to prevent this, it needs to be cut RIGHT NOW.
Of course, feeding into the grid is an entirely different story. And there is no way in hell anybody should attempt this project without spending three months in the library. Three years if you're going to tap into the grid.
I really don't need another speeding ticket, ok?
Limit your internet access to no more than ninety(90) minutes in a seven(7) day period.
