and one would think that Microsoft would be sticking with some sort of Windows-based kernel on their own gaming platform
Windows is supposed to run all sorts of applications, why do you need a whole multitasking OS if you only run one program at a time? And you KNOW what it is going to be.
Of course, I'm not an OS or game programmer, so I am probably wrong about this.
Last time I had to do a virus/spyware purge (mobo upgrade, re-installed windows, u get the idea) I just found it easier to kill all the processes first than hit the power button. Of course, I'm one of the few that takes the time to remember what processes are supposed to be running, and it doesn't help if any Windows processes get modified, but it's better than clearing the registry and resetting.
Now rather than sending off the whole movie, someone can just export the key, download it along with everyone else, and decrypt, which is easier than getting the whole movie IMO.
But shooting down the commercial spacecraft is ok? By that logic, it would be perfectly reasonable to shoot down airliners, because they MIGHT be dangerous.
Ummmm.....aren't the 800-series opterons 8 way, 400-series 4 way, 200-series 2 way, and 100-series 1-way?
I don't know server processors that well, but this is how I thought it works.
Assuming that they have an exploit to get the program in.
This is virtually impossible unless you have very good friends in the HDD manufacturer company.
Until someone in some other country with a chip fab does it, and then starts selling the controller boards.
The US has 10,000+ armed and operational nuclear warheads that can target any point on the planet.
It is not known how many would work - the estimated lifetime of the nukes is 10 years. The average age is 20 years. Many would probably fizzle.
A microwave only uses that frequency because WATER can absorb it well.
Note also that WiFi devices are limited to 125mW of output.
Microwaves can have 10000 this power.
Show me some conclusive evidence of your theory that WiFi can cause brain damage in normal use and I'll believe you. But not until then.
Stay the fsck home.
So what you're saying is: ok, for the new few years, you may never leave the house, except for work. Isn't that slight overkill?
CCD security cameras will show infra-red light, as will consumer video cameras in low-light mode.
However, I can get a *SMALL* security camera for $150. Which is why that option wins.
At a buck a song, that's $10,000 to fill it up. I don't know anyone with that kind of money.
Who says you can only put music on an iPod?
The world is not a fair place and women get all of the breaks.
;)
So don't get caught. I'm at high school and completely surrounded by hot chicks 90+% of the time, and it works for me
Is there any question to which "You should use Linux!" is not the answer?
No. And yes, I answered that question using a Knoppix CD. The answer to that question therefore was to use Linux.
So, you mean, he might ENJOY getting his hard drive formatted?
I would have said it was no longer beta when it hits 1.0 (but NOT 1.0PR)
I have also noticed that it is easier to get girls to play on a console than a PC, YMMV
It may vary quite a lot, at least judging by the ones I know.

The only ones who wouldn't be happy is those with a heavy investment in all things x86.
Or have a limited supply of money.

Sorry, didn't mean to post that as AC.

Or someone on the inside could get it *BEFORE* it's sent out over the link - and before any watermarks or DRM are put in.
I'm not saying it would be easy, but it's possible.
At that point, it is no longer a commercial airliner, but just a hostile aircraft. A target.
Another question is: is it a good idea to shoot down a giant plane over a crowded city?
But shooting down the commercial spacecraft is ok? By that logic, it would be perfectly reasonable to shoot down airliners, because they MIGHT be dangerous.
If you read the grandparent, you would realise that that was what I was trying to say.
Well, it's still safer than IE6.
Not every Linux user knows how to build a computer.
