o the only thing you have to worry about are rednecks who think it's funny to melt down the batteries and mix them with paint for glow-in-the-dark wallpaper
Might I suggest mixing a small amount of C4 in to stop this?

They track fertiliser purchases, to try to stop terrorists from using ANFO bombs....why would this be any different?
Most people seem to have trouble understaning ANYTHING which they don't get paid for. At least, that's my experience. For example: I'm 14, one of my computers runs linux (RH8). I spend a weekend or two learning the basic stuff, and when I'm finished, and go to have lunch, I leave it at the console, because that's what I've been working on. My parents, however, only understand how to use programs in X. I say to press Alt+F7, and that goes back into X. I have to say this again EVERY TIME I leave the computer at the CLI. People don't learn.
Sure, your Fortune 50 companies may need some features that OO doesn't provide, but the number of office suite users in those companies is a small minority compared to those in SMEs
Exporting to PDF without Acrobat is a VERY, VERY good feature in my opinion. Maybe a *SLIGHT* positive for the SMBs, if they switch to OO.
If overclockers could change stuff like that on the silicon, I think they'd change the multiplier before making it into an access point, especially since they can probably afford the $150-$200 for the WAP.
Shit......3 days ago I bought a router/switch/firewall/modem for $190, and 2 cards for $90 each. AND these were the cheapest 802.11g things I could find easily.
As much as I want to stay out of your country, cheap broadband and hardware IS attractive.
just because WE think China's rules are harsh and wrong (because we've been fortunate enough to have so many freedoms), that doesn't mean that we should expect everyone else in the world to have them
That's why they try to censor the internet - China doesn't want its citizens to know better, and do something about it.
but you do hear their voice , with all the intonation etc that goes with it. With the internet you don't even get that , its one stepped further removed from real contact than the phone is
If you really spend a lot of time on IM, you'll realise that you can tell quite a lot about how someone's feeling by what they type. People write differently when they're happy/sad/depressed/etc. Just because you can't hear their voice doesn't mean you can't tell what they're trying 2 say.
hmmmmm.....which is cheaper......email over free-of-charge internet connection, or conversation over the phone from Italy to Australia.....hard to decide, really.
or good old hand written letters?
But they don't have the immediacy that IM does - if I'm lucky, it takes a few days.
On MSN i get a response in...ohhh...about 5 seconds.
Could someone possible refresh my memory on what a STEM is? Been a while since I heard that.
- Preview window says drawing failed.
- Fireworks says "unknown file type".
- GIMP 2.0: jpeg.exe crashed.
It seems you are right - anything that tries to render it will crash.IIRC, C4 doesn't explode without a detonator

If an assassin wanted cover to take a close shot at [insert someone important's name here], all they have to do is to organize a flash mob
A rifle shot at 1km range would be somewhat more practical.

Not sure about fission bombs, but IIRC, h-bombs have a thick U-238 casing, which would stop any radiation getting through.
The idea is to make it easy for the general public to understand what the format is for - transferring the original image out of the camera.
In this sense, negative is the ideal name.
5. People like me stop throwing building materials at them ;)

get some nice ani Gif's of a bikini-clad Carmen Electra showing you how to properly format an interdepartment memo
;)
Or a fullscreen MPEG-2 at DVD res

But then you can't get support without drivers, which wouldn't come instantly for Linux.
Remember what happened when someone decided to let the CPU handle processing for modems? THAT was a good idea, wasn't it?

Do you really think that any slashdotters are really going to care, or make any use of this idea?
But in re-entry there would be temperatures of more than 75 degrees, and it would go liquid again.
The only things I don't like about it are:
- No taskbar
- Winamp comes out as many windows, which I have to move
- Always-on-top windows are placed on the 3d area, even though they are still visible
- Background windows are not updated at all, so I can't see the current status.
- .NET Framework. Try downloading that on a 33k modem
Apart from these, I am quite happy with it. Very useful when I need to have >10/15 windows open.If you log in with MSN messenger, you get notified when there's a new message. Just got one then in fact.

11:59 on Saturday night.........time to get a gf methinks....
Honestly, I would give anything to get away from the Internet for two weeks
I'l give you AU$50 for your modem, because mine's having problems.
Ok, seriously, it IS harder than it seems.
I'm using one now, you get used to it, as long as you have adblock.
Of course, I'm gonna get 512kb ADSL in a week, so it's all good. If I'm lucky, I might be able to get my dad to get a plan with no download cap.
