Its been the first site I go to for as long as I can remember. Before that it was an Amiga site...Champaign-Urbana Commodore Users Group. They closed it when the news dried up from loads of stories every day to a few a month.

GNU fileutils, binutils, textutils, zip, egcs are hardly replaceable. You'd look a little silly with a ksh and nothing to run with it.
The Bloodhound Gang's One Fierce Beer Coaster is great to code to, otherwise I'm another NIN freak. Nirvana, Rage, Marilyn Manson, Foo Fighters, The Offspring, and Greenday also come into it somewhere along the lines. NIN Further Down The Spiral is certainly unbeaten for Quake - but Nirvana's In Utero comes a close second. Random play on 2.7 gig of mp3s suffices when cpu is not needed:-)
Strange, but theres something about October and Microsoft and Linux. Last year we got the Halloween documents - this year we get this 'thing'.
Maybe theres a big get-together of employees and managers in November or something, and they all want fuel for the "What did your department achieve this year?" questions. The PR department has not had the greatest amount of press recently - this should cause a stir:-)
I wonder what they did the year before last in the month of October...
Hell, I often feel like giving up on computers and becoming a farmer after trodding through hundreds of junk EMail some days.
I come from a farming family. I'm giving it up to computers. I'd rather wade through nice clean(ish) junk mail than a cows wastage any morning. Theres no money in moo moos in the UK these days anyway. Then again... theres no money in gnu moos in the computing sense either.
At college we have three girls in our course. Last year there were 2, but these things happen. Theres about 15 of us left altogether. I haven't got a clue what the reasons for this are, but the majority of girls in this college seem to be doing 'Beauty Therapy' type courses. They go around in little white dresses - and even most are not blonde, umm.. well its a synonym.
