Why do I always forget macs? Yes, office runs very well on macs (I really like office:mac). But therein lies to problem, people forget about office on macs.
Have we mentioned the cash that schools get? (http://www.microsoft.com/Education/HowToBuyInstit ution.aspx)
The thing is that schools are looking for "compatability" and since most of the world uses.doc, (not a smart choice as recent undeletes have shown...) schools get lassoed into using Office. Office requires windows. Then your office upgrade needs newer windows.... the endless money tree.
YES? Microsoft gives some massive deals to schools, in order to lock them in. Asking your school to turn to some other OS is like asking them to tear up a cheque. Besides, believe you me, your school does not give a flying fig about security... not many do.
I hope the last thing they do will be to open up everything. I mean put everything under the GPL, or public domain it. I wonder if sun could create a will.....
I see a couple of big problems in the future for blinkx (besides the obvious problems of a stupid name and ad pun).
First off: Blinx requires XP or 2000. Sure, that's a big market, but even in windows, 40% of people still run windows 98.
IE is required, though mozilla support is supposedly in dev.
Second of all, did anyone try out blinkx broadband.... what interface woes. Slow, bloated, and the big U word: UGLY!
The licence is also not exactly optimal....
Perhaps it could at one point be worth it to port the GIMP to cocoa, or whatever the new X dev thing is called, however, for now, it's just not feasable. I think that for what the average user, who does not want to spend the money wants, the gimp is perfect. Sure, a little incongruous in a mac environment, but still well suited to a beginner's photo editing
I want one. Looks kinda cool. My question is, what would it take to get that kind of thing street legal
? It's kindof dangerous for the rider if he/she were to contact any... standing objects. Of course, it's probably just as dangerous as a crotch rocket motorcycle
I agree there. The gimp was designed with linux in mind. Multiple desktops and the like. MacOS doesnt have that kind of acess. He is whining about the quality of a port. And, to be honest, lets face it: MacGIMP is still almost a Beta port.
Especially since it's IE only.
Have to agree there. I have one of those scrawls which even I have a hard time deciphering. A laptop just does the job a thousand times better!
So all those who are ticked at him, ask the other devs to REMOVE THEIR CODE, or fork the project. Seems simple enough.
Now we will have all those quake addicts complaining about the ping of Alpha centuari!

See, finally a teacher who gets that not all windows solutions, are "THE" solution! Yes, a medal should be in order.

How does one say c#? C++ is cee-plus-plus, so is c# c-pound?
13 hours and 51 minutes per.... day, week, month year? We need units here people!

Ouch.. amazing one man can reap so much damage to such a strong series.
When are lasers going to finally hit 'real' efficiancies?
Is berman the one responsible for the piece (of what have you) known as Star Trek Enterprise? With it's incredible lack of contituity?
So, perhaps it is time somone came out of the dark ages, and made it into either a WC3 reccomendation, or an RFC.
Why did atom even come into existance? Was not RSS already established, or is there some kind of deficiancy in RSS that i'm missing here?
A very good question, that i would like answered. Even if it's just a little icon (similar to the popup one), i need SOME feedback at times.
Will they ever let up with the legal threats?! Their work force is probably lawyer dominated now. Another professional lawsuit company.
Just look around. there are many such review sites. Often times magazines and tech sites will put out their own reviews (PCWorld, Tom's Hardware etc)
Ahh, but that happens much to often. Especially with teens who think that they are invincible.
