or there is an even more paranoid theory that this whole thing including the "3 year old data" and the terror alert was all manufactured my US intelligence for some political/military issue.

The political motivation right now is strong as this is an issue Bush polls better on than Kerry and the race is too close to call, so you cannot discount that this may have been in whole or part a polictical exercise. What with the timing (3 days after the DNC) as well, I put the chances of a political driving force at around 50%

The US Goverment is doing the same (ads to tell you how to prepare for a terrorist attack) which tells you nothing very useful at all.

It's already happened, the Bush administration has made this country into a fearful nation. I only hope the country wakes up and realizes how fear is being used to control us by our own goverment.

Name one corporate lobbyist that works to promote Amtrak Oh wait what's that? There are none Amtrak is not supported by influence by business, in fact it's barely supported at all. The only reason it's still alive is that there are some that understand that alternative transportation solutions are a good thing and keep it funded just enough to allow it to limp along and yes Amtrak is an important part of the nations transportation system NorthEast of the US, and to a lesser extent in California/Chicago

From a legal perspective you may well be right, but in my book it's still negligent. You have information that could prevent many others from serious consequences to their financial stablity. Imagine if your bank account were emptied because you got a keylogger from cnn.com, and you only found out about it after the fact? And yes you should be telling the public. defending yourself in keeping it secret is a disgrace in this kind of instance. You should be ashamed.

If your server was compromised, and served up a keylogger, which was then used to empty punters bank accounts, you bear responsibility for notifing your customers of the breach.

To not do so is negligence

The point is Public Transportation and rail systems are optimised for high density travel. Obviously this doesn't work for many people, but it does take a lot of pressure of the road infrastructure, and at a lower cost than adding the equivelant road capacity.

Not to mention it reduces fossil fuel consumption and encourages high density development

After 3 months spent in Canada working the system, they were able to return

I agree, where I work is similar, and it's so much better than the over headheight cubes. If you are targetted, virus scanners and patches won't stop a keylogger, perhaps a trojan scanner would have, but we don't know what keylogger was installed. After all if I go and code up a keylogger now, and install it on your PC, your virus scanners/ trojan scanners won't detect it.
