    The OP is 100% correct. Taking "normal" people, people who have not committed violent acts, DOES NOT tell you this procedure would stop someone who WOULD commit violent acts. Obviously there's a difference between someone who commits a violent act and someone who doesn't.

    Hmmm, so what's your fucking problem again? Could it be you want adoption of your codec but your codec doesn't pas the standard testing suites. So the solution is not to improve your codec - that would be too much work - just re-write the tests to say the codec is just good enough. Problem solved.

    Actually the article is a lot less interesting. It's about the lazy mans approach to video coding. Can't past video standards test. No problem. Base them on human perception. As long as people "believe" they are seeing HD the codec does not need to pass the test that says it delivers HD.
