It's well known she was bought and paid for, she came from the private sector. This isn't surprising. What's surprising is I didn't know she was a guy - it takes some serious big balls to make that statement.
Your argument is based on the assumption that the military can't get replacement parts. I would not rest my argument on that. There's a little thing known as a defense contractors. You know companies that will build anything to spec. Did you know that the F-15 was introduced in 1976 and is still in use today! The point being that age does not determine a thing's usefulness.
FYI the USS Yorktown had be towed back to port when Windows crashed. So no Windows on naval vessels, let alone running missile silos, is not a good thing. Pinhead.
"heir point is that you should not pursue a market that cannot exist without a government lifeline, as that simply hides the gross cost to society through taxation."
LMOL....they tell the oil and coal industry to give up the government subsidies they have been living off for the past 100 years. Tell them to stop trying to impose taxes on another industry. Pinhead.
Exactly what do you think is going to replace fossil fuels that is not going to be available in the US? Seriously, I'm all for replacing fossil fuels with cleaner sources of energy but there is NOTHING out there presently or in the reasonably likely future that is likely to do more than dent the use of fossil fuels for at least the next 30-40 years.
Which wasn't the point of the article. The point was the Koch brothers and conservative allies in state government have been pushing legislatures to impose a surtax on renewable energies. For example a surtax on solar panels, hoping to make installing solar panels on houses less attractive. That's the issue.
So you state that corporations are corrupt and will use their power against people but you still blame the government....wow...that's some pretty tortured logic.
Computer Science, not engineer. Stay on topic zippy. Not alot of rigorous thinking goes into writing computer programs. most are cut and paste, formulaic.
Critical thinking skills. Analytical ability. Comparative analysis. Language skills....you know things that would be very helpful for a company that makes a search engine....
I don't think saying "More people fail to get English degrees, so it takes more critical thinking skills to get one!" or some such, is valid. Although, most programmers and CS grads have no clue what they're doing, so it's not like I hold these people in high esteem.
However, that's what the Google guy was saying about an English degree.
Thank you! No one wants to look at the actual problem - inactivity. You need to move around. But the problem is you will cut into productivity because that means people need to be away from their desks. This is nothing more than an attempt at a silver bullet. It won't fix the problem but it will give the appearance that they're doing something.
Yes you are very dumb. The point is that it's unreasonable to believe that people who have spent their lifetime working in a particular field are going to suddenly become computer programmers. The solution to unemployment is not teaching someone to code. By the way these are the same companies that want more H1B Visas so they can import more foreign workers. So much for teaching to code only to not offer them a job because some guy from India is doing it.
"A better way to state the question: half the population has sub-median intelligence."
This is based on what exactly? Hate to break it too you but those "intelligent" jobs, aka tech jobs, are going overseas or people from India and China are being brought here to perform. So what exactly do you tell the above-median intelligent person who has a cs degree or a computer engineering degree to do? Go back and get another degree?
FYI building trades are consider manual or blue collar jobs. Those are not going away.
Somebody works for goldman sachs...

Try to stay on topic.
So I guess Verizon isn't going to give back all the money New Jersey residents handed them in order to build out broadband.....time to litigate.
These are lobbyists not experts. Try again Zippy.
Apparently you haven't met the oil industry.
What?!?
So you state that corporations are corrupt and will use their power against people but you still blame the government....wow...that's some pretty tortured logic.
Clearly you missed the run up to the Iraq War.
Like the CFO for Yahoo? I think not....
That's great but it's not based on what you think, it's based on your income.
That's what you take away from the article *blink*
Former Soviet Union reconstituting. Putin saying collapse of Soviet Union mistake. Yeah I think he used the term correctly.
Really? Because most people I know in the field did not come from a CS background. Swing and a miss.

LMOL - yeah coal miners have never been screwed over by the companies they worked for....pin head.
Those white collar, knowledge worker jobs are being outsourced too. You think it's any easier retraining these educated people?

Neither are most investors, but that doesn't stop them from investing in industries they know nothing about...
Actually they do, the fact that you do agree with it doesn't change it.
