So what you're saying is that because we can eat meat, we should eat meat? I know I picked a bad site for reference (it was the first that popped up in google), but I've seen actual debates between real scientists om the matter and the facts seem to point to my argument. I could be wrong, so could you. What ever happened to open-minded discussion?
I've a question. He gibbers on about something to do with not having licensed DivX, and thus having to transcode DivX to WMV before being able to watch them on Windows Media Center Edition. How does one transcode a DivX movie to WMV without having a DivX license? Are MS infringing on DivX IP here, or am I missing something?
It says in car manuals how often to change oil. There are dials and things to say when you need fuel, etc. and (if you didn't already know) someone will tell you that you need to get it serviced x times a year.
Where exacty is the Microsoft or DELL manual telling me I should update this or that? Where in this manual does it tell me that there's a new exploit out in March 2005 and I need to update stuff? Your analogy is just plain wrong.
The former probably because you pay for defence of one you sue if you lose
What? In the US if someone sues you and they lose, you still have to pay for your defence costs? Or did I pick that up wrong? If thats true its completely insane.
Possibly because of the database corruption issues that occur daily once your mailbox(es) exceeds a gig or so (graphic design shop, so lots of attachments from clients)? Thunderbird is being tested and seems to handle these volumes fine. Can't comment on a comparison between their spam filtering abilities just yet - its too soon to tell.
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the lack of Scotch is their problem:) Have you tried it without the Scotch, marzipan and icing (I only enjoy the marzipan myself)?
Linkage please. Unless you're referring to Genetically Engineered grain foods, which are indeed anathema to 3rd world countries. You may not mind having your local agriculural crops taken over by engineered foods (which have not been fully tested for side-effects), but should side-effects occur and their few crops as it is become inedible, more people will die. Genetically engineered grain foods have a good chance of propagating and overwhelming native crops, which could easily become a bad thing.
Fair cop, if this is true. But why is it called the "Web Edition" if no web server is installed? What makes it different from other Windows 2003 Server editions? From the link I posted I presumed having IIS installed was the difference. Is this just misleading information from Microsoft? I don't run Windows - so I wouldn't know. But I'd like to.
Have a listen to Henry Rollins version of "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" if you can get your hands on it - fruitcake it is not:) Even better, request it on your local radio station and share the love.
Are you trying to say that Windows 2003 Server Web Edition doesn't come with IIS installed by default? Heres a clue for you: OSS bashing doesn't really work on pro-OSS forums.
Starvation - In nature populations are kept in check by starvation. Starvation is running rampant in third world countries. The world population is growing so rapidly that it's becoming more and more difficult to adequately feed everybody.
The world has more than enough food to feed everyone on it many times over - food doesn't just run out, its a highly renewable resource. The problem is greed - human, corporate and government greed. "Its our food, if you want it pay us for it" attitudes. There are food surplus "mountains" in every first world country, doing nothing but rotting. Other problems are war - take Sudan for instance, where lots of relief food arrives, but bever reaches those who need it. Its stolen or destroyed by the warlords.
If the guy got away with it, there's the potential for thousands to millions of dollars' worth of fraud
Why isn't Kenneth L. Lay of Enron doing jailtime then? Or whoever was behind the WorldCom debacle? These guys didn't just have the potential for thousands to millions of dollars' worth of fraud. They perpetrated actual robbery to the tune of billions of dollars, and pocketed the money. And where are they now? It seems theres more than one form of justice in the USA
Actually that was not the case. It was a Knoppix hd-install. Rummaging around in dselect (IIRC - I haven't used Debian in over 6 months), and removing foomatic fixed the problem, but I have no idea what actually caused the problem. It may have been caused by my fiddling around with the mirrors settings (but I was merely following man page instructions), but despite all the evangelism around here, apt-get is not the be-all and end-all of package management. It is certainly the best I've encountered thus far however.

I know (now) how to fix this, but if that is dependency hell I don't know what is.
Theres something wrong with all the replies to this/. article. Everyone seems to know exactly what SPF is and isn't. Has everyone suddenly started to RTFA? Is this the start of something? SlashDot: A New Hope!
You have file-old.tar.gz and file-new.tar.gz. A delta is the difference between the two files. Instead of downloading the complete file-new.tar.gz, you just download the differences between the two files (and then the entire file-new.tar.gz is created locally via your "delta-package-manager").

It is perfectly natural for us to eat meat, as it is for many other species.
Bzzt! Wrong. Humans are Not Designed to Eat Meat. I eat meat - and happily so - but that doesn't make your reasoning correct.
And my post is trolling how?
The lack of any actual facts, merely lots of conjecture, by both/all of you.
What is this? A troll fight I'm presuming. Have either of you ever examined MS source code?

Don't feel too bad. No one actually has mod points - 'cept about 10 admins (huge American dudes [1] in the employ of "No Such Agency")

maybe some people finally RTFA before posting ?
Strange. Mine are green and brown ...
