" If you wonder why people hate us, look at the monsters with guns that wear our flag,"
So normally I'm a fan of you, not because I agree with you (I often do not) but because your comments are clear and unambiguous. This one, however, kind of irks me; so I'm calling you out on it.
Is it that you don't support our troops, the dirt pounders in the field, or is it that you don't support our government and command structure sending the dirt pounders into the field. The disitinction is real and I am quite interested in your response. The statement sounds like you think the individual GI Joe's are to blame, but your post history would indicate that maybe you did not mean that to be the case.
You know, now that I've posted that and realise just how small I really am in the financial world... If you'll excuse me I think I need to go... do... something. Don't quite know what yet but snorting cocaine is climbing up the list quite quickly... hmmm....
So Billy boy has $47B and earns 1.5% average return on his money (any excess is given away). Bill's salary is given away. Bill's home mortgage (if it exists) does not exist. He earns roughly: $705,000,000 per year. That quite certainly puts him in a high tax bracket:
If taxable income is over-- But not over-- The tax is: $326,450 no limit $88,320.00 plus 35% of the amount over 326,450 (So he pays $705M - $326,450)*35% + $88,320 246635742.5+$88,320 =
$246,724,062.50 in taxes Since we don't use the cents collumn in fed tax does anyone know whether the.5 rounds up or down in this case:-)
I make about $42K a year. So dear billy pays in taxes what I make in over 5 _THOUSAND_ years. Yeah, I'd say your guess was conservative alright. We haven't even figured in state taxes and I think he earns more than 1.5% in interest and divadends per year. -nB
Shucks, I'm very mono-lingual and I have enough uses for this (full keybd) that I'll likely get one simply as a custom macro input device and retain my old bashable keyboard for normal typing. -nB
I tend to like the black teas (Earl Grey is nice), but I find that coffee and most energy drinks have too sharp a spike in the energy rush/crash cycle to be worth anything for marathon sessions.
That said, rockstar and wired are my choices for twitch gaming sessions.
Sadly, yes. But as the previous poster aptly noted (flamebait or not) I never asserted that the US population is educated. In fact, I believe that the general decline of educational rigor in our country is largly responsible for its decline. -nB
Ironically this could force China to improve the overall education level, which would of course backfire as an educated populace is much more difficult to control. [/longshot]
So the answer is that universities need to patent and then PD all their non-sponsored research. too bad that all the patent apps would likely bankrupt them first. -nB
Actually it's quite simple. The developer edition is free for developers. Once you want to go to production (even on a small scale) you are liable for the licence. This makes it free to run your dB in a production environment so long as it's on 4 cores (or 2 chips whichever comes first) and 4 gig or less. -nB
"Don't give me the "execution is cheaper" argument. It's completely bogus."
[sarcasim]That's cause the process ain't streamlined enough![/sarcasim] I never said it was cheaper... Though I think in fact it should be (not is, should be)
"Let me throw a question back at you. If your mother was wrongly convicted of a murder and sentanced to death for it, would you still be in favour of capital punishment?" Yes, mad as hell, but yes. In all honesty I can not answer that question as I have not had that issue happen. What I do know is that our system the way it is now is so horribly broken that a convicted rapist can posess a gun, use it to shoot a 16 year old in the back, claim it was an accident, and walk away without any punishment at all. none.
I know the arguments as to why this can happen: the DA was a dumbass, the judge didn't do something right, the rapist's wife wouldn't testify (though she later admitted it). You name all the reasons. It ammounts to a person who should have gone to jail for a year simply for possession walking away scott free.
So, while I would be pissy about my mother being put to death wrongly, and I would do everything in my power to stop the execution, I think I would still support the death penalty.
Ball's back in your court. I don't buy locking them up for life is any good, next sugestion? -nB

hence the [rant] tag? I realise that may be a bit of bloodlust but I will pose the question to you: what do you do with an individual who repeatedly commits a violent sex act against others? what do you do with an individual who repeatedly kills others?
I know my house ain't perfect, and I don't plan on throwing any stones, but I as an individual am tired of the rights of perps being held higher than the rights of victims. Once someone is "in for life" they are nothing but a drain on society and its resources, so why continue to house them? -nB
"Get your own house in order before you start lecturing other people about what's right and what's wrong."
Most of us would love nothing more than that, but alas since the masses don't seem to realize that they are the ones in power nothing changes. We need a major upset in our political system but while the two majority parties may "hate" each other they will protect each other against a third party gaining anything more than a fringe following.
I would promote violent overthrow, but that is a capitol offence:-) And: [soapbox] On the subject of capitol punishment, I see very little wrong with it. The system we have is flawed, yes, but it is not the severity of offence that is flawed, it is the execution of the process (forgive the pun) that is flawed. There are some cases where evidence later shows the person is innocent, I understand that. But given evidence that is incontrivertable (DNA, etc.) or the person is a repeat offender, then I feel that a death sentence is a viable option. [rant] It may be worth noting that a repeat offender rapist/child ponorgrapher (creater, not consumer), pedophile, and murderer all should recieve a comparable sentence (IMHO). in the case of the sex crimes, whack off their nuts || rip out their overies on the second offence. If that doesn't fix them then make sure they can not harm another soul again. [/rant][/soapbox] -nB
My comparison to Wal-Mart was in the bullying supplier's side, not employee care side, but good point anyway. I think that unfortunately any sufficiently large company is indistinguishable from government in that someone is going to get shit on. So while I take Starbuck to heart I happen to like Intel's compute technology. But if you go to faceintel.com you'll see that they too have shit on some people. -nB
cool then... I was a little stunned to see them called responsible is all:-) I don't drink their coffee if at all possible, but there are times there is little choice. Then I request free trade coffee (try it sometime, the results range from interesting to entertaining). -nB
They pay below a living wage value for coffee beans and because of their size they can bully the suppliers into following along (think WalMart). The only reason they serve free trade coffee at some stores (Corp stores only) is because of a lawsuit they lost. Even at that you have to request the free trade coffee if it isn't on the one day a month they serve it all day.
The reason shareholder value went up is that they mitigated the lawsuit losses by getting the settlement to be one day a month or on request, and only corp stores. Thus the franchise stores can buy the cheaper coffee (from Starbucks corp.) and not offer the fair trade value coffee. Since Starbucks continues to profit from the franchise coffee sales it doesn't matter that the corp stores (which IIRC number less than franchise outlets) make less money.
1. screw the suppliers of your raw material in 3rd world countries 2. profit 3. get caught 4. mitigate lawsuit and spin off franchises immune from suit settlement 5. profit again!
I was in 6th grade at the time. Live on sat. My class was a double class taught by a husband and wife. When the shuttle "blew up" there was dead silence in the class and our teachers looked completly at a loss for what to do. We ended up spending the day talking about it and the rest of the week working on a class project to send to NASA and the astronauts spouses with a special one for the teachers husband.
Traumatic, yes. But I think it was equally important that we understood that exploration involved risks. Look at early seafaring. How many lost their lives doing that?
I still remember that day. I don't think it is something one can forget. Didn't stop me from wanting to be an astronaut though. -nB
Ever hear of ghost? Make your OS install along with your "always on" programs. Patch it all up and make an image of the drive. Burn the image to DVD and next time you need to re-install just boot from the DVD and you're back up in under half an hour. (that's what I do) -nB
Actually the research should be done as it will help the developers of OSs and apps to understand how spyware gets on systems. If most spyware arrives because someone installed Bonzai Buddy then that is different than exploits being used to install without user consent. While they are both bad I think it is vital to OS developers to know why and how this stuff gets there. -nB

The Xbox (as an example) runs for 10-12 hours on a 1 farad aerogel cap. Those cost about $5.00 in qty.
While your idea has merit, the tech still does not do low power well enough for a cap to replace a battery.
