    BSOD, STOP error, specifically referencing the ATI driver/fatal exception.
    Even newer cards are causing issues in my lab with Vista/XP64bit. XP32 and older cards (like the X600) with the later driver builds are also problematic.

    I have to agree with you on this one.

    I *can* manage, but I won't. I turned down a promotion on the grounds that it set me up for direct reports. IANASSprogrammer (I'll write code to get a job done, but can't vouch that it's production worthy). I am a decent validation/engineering guy.

    Which is good.
    I try to be careful and simply don't blog about charged subjects related to my industry.
    GP noted that his manager knew and did not stop him, in CA that is grounds for telling the employee to stop and firing the manager (if they want to go that far), but since the manager tacitly OK'd it, then they can not fire the employee, else the employee will be very wealthy via the court system.

    I was just thinking, the army has better gear than I can get but:
    Average Cell tower uses 3 120deg antennas on a mast for 360deg coverage. In dense high volume areas they use 6x60deg antennas. There are 30, 15, and 5 deg antennas also available. just ring a mast with 5 deg antennas to get a bearing then use a .5deg dish to get a line, finally with two (preferably three) of these stations spaced reasonably far apart you can all in a strike with high certainty as to the location of the signal (and that's with consumer hardware).

    This just goes to show what is truly broken about their minds. They are far too self-interested to really be concerned about anything resembling "greater good." And I'll say it once again -- this is not the exclusive territory of muslim extremists. It's not even the exclusive territory of religious extremists though it does seem to be something of a hallmark of them. It's a problem of the self-interested mind. s/religious extremists/linux zealots/ ok:

    Very true!
    Now, hopefully Intel will open the new bus to third party apps (like that FPGA opteron drop-in). I'll admit I'm an Intel fanboy, but I'd buy an opteron system in a heartbeat if I could pony up the $5K for that co-processor...

    What surprises me is the current lack of complaints that you can't drop these new processors into an old board, as a new socket will be required (this is because the northbridge is rolling into the CPU IIRC). I don't see it as a big deal, because usually when upgrading the CPU one also is upgrading the memory and MB as well.

    My employer has already gone to a method of storing documents that encrypts each doc as a PVF file, and you must contact a central keyserver to open the document each time you open it *or* resume from any form of standby.
    Since you have the data locally, a low bandwith link is acceptable for the key exchange.
    This is for employees who will be traveling *and* may not have fast internet access. All others are to not have anything secure on their notebook, and instead VPN into the datacenter to read/retrieve docs.
    As for me, They can not have my hardware (I'll fly a later flight and ship the damn thing FedEx if I have to), and I have a token windows partition to boot to so they'll see what they want.

    I was one of their first customers (and last FWIW). Stayed with their servers till the host I logged into died and earthlink couldn't find it.
