    Most game companies write engines to make games. The game is the product, so it's not too important how it looks under the cover. iD makes games to publicize engines. So it really does matter for the code to look nice.

    Yup, they did it in the wrong order. If they raised rates first, then people would follow by reducing water usage.

    Nice argument, except that hybrid cars are typically ~10% heavier than the closest matching traditional car. And there are hybrid SUVs.

    The funny thing is that Republicans have much more to lose if the US treasury defaults. Of course, rich politicians hold a disproportionate quantity of US treasury bonds, so both parties speak of default as the great apocalypse. But really, most people in the 99% would probably benefit.

    I don't believe that a civilian with full automatic weapons is capable of more carnage than a civilian with semi-auto. Full auto runs them out of ammo faster.

    I learned that in workplace safety, engineering guards are generally more effective than defensive policies, although both are needed. I expect the same to be true for guns.

    The only conceivable fair way to have any reparation paid out is to take it from old estates, and not on any money earned in this lifetime. But, frankly, there is no practical way of assessing who owes what. Therefore, I think that a general inheritance tax is the most fair form of tax.
