Maybe this is because Linux is used by more n00bs. I know my first web server (i assume thats what they are talking about?) was linux because linux is free. Most n00bs are goign to use the free alternative rather than the expensive one, and the companies using the expensive OS are going to be the companies who also pay a lot to their sys admins
exactly! Think about everything apple: it does something and does it 'right'. When one "lives the apple lifestyle" they dont have a ton of choices, they just follow the apple path and everything works together... Mac computer, OSx, itunes, ipod, airtunes, etc.
Computer games always have the issue of not knowing the exact specifications of the computer they will run on. Often times they end up running on a computer way to slow for them. In Apple world there is a special device for this called a video game console. I'm sure apple would love to enter this field themselves but the market is too hard to enter.
Nintendo seems like the "Apple" of the console world to me, simplistic yet fun and creative. Has anyone predicted a buyout of Nintendo by apple yet? that would make the most sense to me.
I've noticed that the total n00bs do best with Linux on the desktop (well a nice packaged distriubution like Ubuntu) becuase they only use Office, and the internet. Its the people who jsut know enough to be dangerous that do the worst with Ubuntu, becuase they get upset when "super smilie for AIM' doesnt work and think they are taking care of their computer by installing spyware-infested supposed "spyware cleaners" from popup ads;)
ITMS is popular, so people go there first, and then they discover they have to buy an iPod because nothing else will play the music they've bought.
Almost everyone I know bought an iPod first and uses ITMS because its the only thing that works with their iPod. ITMS is part of the iPod exerience, just as OS X is part of the Mac experience.
Yes, you can.
I havn't used napster since i got my iPod, but IIRC you can burn the songs you have purchased (not songs through their montly subscription) 3 times. Purchasing a song is the same 99cents that itunes charges.
and the answer to that is to make our networks more reliable. In the same way that we rely on electricity for esential needs, eventually we will have the same reliance on our network connection. M ight as well get the ball rolling and demand uptime from our broadband providers instead of being content when they have mysteriage "outages" for horus at a time ocne a month
Could the author be help legally responsible if he made his program open source and distributed only the source code? This way all his work wouldnt go to waste, which is what he stated that he was upset with in TFA.
As many have already posted, messing with the gas pedal is not a good idea. There are goign to be circumstances where one needs to speed, or the system is malfunctioning, etc.
On my new chrysler town & country, as soon as you drive above 5mph without your seatbelt buckled, it starts making a dinging sound. Sure, you could drive without a seatbelt on, but the noise is so obnoxius that one is very compelled to wear their seatbelt.
The same could be done for speading; implement the system that they are talking about. Make a warning light on your dash like they do for the seatbelt warnign light. If your going 5 or 10 mph opver the speed limit turn the light on, or if you are going way over the limit, start making an audible alert until the driver slows down.
This way the driver will know, and be compelled to slow down, but in an emergency could continue driving as usual if they wanted. This would also not be a safelty hazard when speading is necessary (such as passing).
I think we should start regulating the last mile of the internet infustructure. Internet is very important to our daily lives, businesses and households alike depend on it for mroe and more critical tasks (even 911 now that VoIP is becomming popular). Why is it acceptable for my adelphia cable internet connection to die for a couple hours a month, when if our phone line did that we would be up in arms? Internet access needs to be considered a utility and both us as consumars and our government needs to hold the providers to higher standards.
Very true. 911 should be something that should be based on the assumption that it needs to be reliable. Eventually everythign will go over IP, thus in the long run E911 for VoIP will be reliable because the internet infustructure will be reliable. But until then, VoIP providers that advertise their services as a land line replacement such as vonage should provide some sort of backup 911.
Cell networks IIRC are required to route 911 calls nomatter whether the phone is activated on the network or not. VoIP ATA's could then just have a cell phone for e911 usage.

if your doing something illegal anyways, might as well get the torrent without the commercials and in HD.

thats why there is a screen on the front of most phones and most phones also have the ability to choose whether opening answers automatically or not
or, now that its an x86 processor, just run your win-only apps in wine or crossover office
Ya, and i bet you are in a $100,000 job... easy for you to get by without that lexas.
woah ya it is, i didn't notice that the first time through
thats what they want. If you dont use your gift card then they get free money.

doesnt dell ship computers with redhat optionally?
