  1. Evolution of Mind on Are Silicon Valley Workers Abandoning Libertarianism For Socialism? (salon.com) · · Score: 1

When you're young, for some, it's easy to forget they're part of a wider context So Libertarianism is appealing. But as the years go by most people realize they aren't alone in this world. There are family. There are neighbours. There are friends. There are heroes and villains and they all touch our lives in many ways. We learn we are stronger together than standing alone. Game of Thrones even gets it: "When Winter comes, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives". Libertarianism is great when times are easy. But when times get harder, you want to be part of a community that looks after its members. You can call that family or community or a country with democratic sicialism. Same thing. Only the scale changes. People cooperating and supporting each other at home, around town, across the country...and even around the world. But open and transparent and democratic and good people working together in good faith. Weed the crooks and cheaters out.

You'd have have to know nothing at all about business to fall for this. I guess that means Republicans are particularly susceptible.... Based on their other damaging policy choices.

  8. When you put a wind turbine up, you factor in the cost of maintenance and eventual replacement. That's what depreciation is: allowing the accrual of replacement costs. This story is the usual bullshit FUD from the fossil fuel industry. To fall for it, you'd have to know NOTHING about how to run a business. I suppose that means Republicans will be particularly susceptible.

Until very recently, they had no choice and oil-lobby owned politicians and Fox News lie to them all day every day. A court case is a great way to air the issues in what is assumed to be a neutral forum. This judge shows how deep the rot has gone. The oil companies knew about climate change in the 1970s then spent 40 years lying about it and finding lobbyists to lie about it. Blaming drivers is pure 'whatabout-ery' that doesn't address the active and ongoing deception of those drivers by oil companies and their paid stooges in Congress and the media.

American courts clearly are having more and more trouble seeing right from wrong. Much like the people in this thread who can't see the core issue here. MAGA simply requires willful blindness to the ragingly obvious. Nothing great about that.
