We've been continually upgrading since 8 years ago; my point was that the system as a whole has operated continuously. They are currently on G5s; obviously they didn't start out that way.
Our computers did the same thing... but I found out it was an IE-only limitation and used firefox (put it on a USB key or whatever, use firefox to d/l, install firefox onto network drive, use network drive firefox to install putty/xchat/foosoft) to get around it.
I had a similar experience, except that I touch-typed (my style was moderately weird; I have small hands, so they moved an insane amount over the keyboard). Difference was, my teacher said, "OK, you passed the tests with 75 WPM, and we only require 45 WPM, but you used the backspace 4 times, and we only allow two. I mean, if you learn to type without the backspace, you'll be much faster". Fascist jerk.
No prob, though there are a few of us ('us' being dwarfs or the disabled community in general) with a chip on the shoulder, that's the exception.
The distinction is basically that medically they are dwarfs (short statured if not treated), but since they have few/no symptoms when treated, they aren't really part of the community.
Just in case the devs are reading this...
I'd like the ability to have different conversations be separated by channel; I.e., talking to foo over AIM vs. bar over MSN vs. baz over Jabber, I'd like one conversation in #AIM_foo, one in #MSN_bar and one in #JABBER_baz. You could even have a new convo start that way: "/join #AIM_foo" would open up a new convo with foo.
Actually, fetuses do sense sound, feeling, warmth, etc., in the womb. I'm pro-choice, though... mostly 'cuz I think it's not government's job to legislate morality.
To back you up, I'd point out that the question "where's the line" is almost impossible to answer exactly - but we can see vaguely where it is. It's like saying, "when did modern man arise" - we don't have a single year, but a range of several thousand years.
I assume you're against in vitro, then? 'Cuz if not, I'd say, as soon as you're done impregnating your wife, at the point where (currently) the doctor will flush them down the drain, that's when they're fair game for this kind of research.
Speaking as an active member of the dwarf community, I don't think IGF-1 deficient people are considered dwarfs - partially because they are all "cured" very early, and partially because they aren't as severely affected as the rest of us.
Who is a higher-up in the translation department for Paypal... actually, I think he's in charge of the whole department, but I'm not sure. I wonder if he's reading this right now?
Well, it's better than comparing lethal injection to the electric chair. I mean, third-party rhetoric (I never thought I'd hear myself saying that...) aside, there are differences between Bush and Kerry. There isn't much of a difference between lethal injection and the electric chair.
A better analogy would be, say, 4 years of jail and having to register as a sex offender (making you a pariah) vs. just the 4 years of jail, versus a 5% chance of fleeing to a country w/o extradition treaties.
Because many of our words are spelled with that set of phonetics, and because (I'm comparing it to German here), we pronounce "i" as in "bribe" and "e" as in "beep", not "i" as in the sound in "beep" and "e" as in "pay". So we're assuming the second vowel is silent - as it often is in English.
I hope I didn't make a mistake there... it's been a while since my last German class.
Seti can already be run in chroot jails (on *nix, obviously, not Windows). Don't think that was the case here, or someone would've mentioned it, though.
"Either lower your dosage or up it."
/me goes off to change his sig

Is that a Discworld quote? 'Cuz it reminds me of something Detritus (sp?) would say.

Ah. I had not been aware of that. Thanks.

Read his post - he's suggesting you use a USB-serial adapter. I've had success with these in the past.

And are you actually agnostic, or a weak atheist? Look at Wikipedia's article on atheists if you're not sure.

I mean, we have G, A and T as nucleotides ... O can be considered a "wildcard", now we just need S and E.

I feel stupid, but I don't get the joke. Is 1.10.5.89 some sort of synonym for 127.0.0.1?

At least you didn't threaten me, which was the point of my post ;-)
Lottameez (816335) is an asshole, a retard, and a moron. Oh, and, don't mod me offtopic - read the parent first!

Informative? Funny, I can see. Insightful, maybe. Troll, at a stretch. But WhoTF modded this "Informative"?!

And I learned something interesting as a result of that - google.cn (the Chinese tld) is run with phpBB. Obviously not Google! (At least, I hope).

I've never had a problem with it, even when I transferred 2.5 DVDs worth of JPEGs over the course of 3 days ... but you have a point.
