No need for H1-B Workers in high tech industry

The H-1B Swindle

There are plenty of home grown qualified workers in the United States to fill our high tech needs. Companies that say they need H1-B's are lying and paying off their congressmen to get more H1-B's every year.
Actually it is very moving. Bill Gates and family are doing more good for the world and the people in it than every Linux geek combined. I'm sorry if that offends you.
to defend Slashdot when the retards on Digg.com are posting anti-slashdot propaganda. Everytime I see the imbecilic picture of Gates as a borg I feel embarrassed for Captain Taco. I'm not even going to RTFA when the title is "Microsoft Thinks Africa Doesn't Need Free Software". That's just asinine. Say what you will about Bill Gates, the man has given millions upon millions of dollars to African nations as well as others poor countries around the globe. He and his wife are also leaving only a small percentage of their fortune to their children when they pass away. The bulk of their fortune will be going to charities. Grow the fuck up and attempt to post something that vaguely resembles an unbiased Microsoft article once in a while.
Oh joy, a story about a freaking toolbar. Yay. I thank you for keeping us informed of cutting edge technology like the google toolbar. It's an invaluabe resource for those of us too lazy to type in "google" or click on our booksmarks to bring up Google.
The real bottom line is Google is a commercial entity. They're not here to help you. They're in business to make money. I'm not putting a commercial entities toolbar (or any toolbar) on my browser. If I want to use Google, and quite often I do, I'll go to their site directly and type in my queries. I don't care about their lame auto-fill in feature and other garbage that comes with their remarkable toolbar.
This is the level of "intelligence" I've come to expect from Slashdot. A fucking moron that doesn't know the outer most track of a CD spins faster than the inner most track calling someone else an idiot. This is high school physics for Christ's sake. Get an education.
The diameter of the earth is much much greater than the diameter of the core. This means the earth spins faster than the inner most core since there is a lot more mileage that is covered per spin. Now to to say the core spins around more times than the earth would be correct but even that is a pretty small difference considering the 700-1200 years to make the extra spin according to the article.
I would think books that specifically tell how to bypass security in proprietary commercial applications would be a violation of the Digital Rights Millenium Copyright act.
is that Slashdot posters would jump to the wrong conclusion about the government! Next thing you know you'll see people on here bad-mouthing Microsoft without really having a clue what they're talking about. Say it isn't so:(
You don't have an good grasp of what "science" is if you think "Intelligent Design" is science.
For the last time, people, OBSERVABLE PHENOMENA is what makes up science. Pulling something out of your ass and saying "Wow, this is complex, that surely means there was an intelligent designer." is NOT science. You can keep your ID in mythology classes where it belongs but don't try to con it off as science, because its not science and it never will be.
Yeah, they're right on the ball with the fatwah against terrorism 4 years after 9/11 and god knows how many murders of Jews by muslims over the years in suicide bombings. Way to speak up there.
Science is based on observable phenomena. Intelligent design doesn't have a place in a science class room and should under no circumstances be offered as a "possibility" inside a science classroom. Science isn't about proving or disproving mythical entities exist, it's about explaining OBSERVABLE phenomena.
I'd consider that more of a punishment if I had to sit through a Coldplay concert. Now if I could sell the tickets and passes that would be great. The rest of the prizes sound nice though.
that a company would want to see if someone is technically competent because we all know that everyone with a doctorate is head and shoulders above all the other candidates in the job market.
This runs contrary to accepted wisdom in science, which says that most scientists peak in their 20s.
I've never heard that said by anyone ever before now. The comment doesn't even make any sense. Most scientists are still getting their first doctorate by their mid 20's and by 30 they'll have only been in the real world for a few years.

Seriously, if we cut off Nigeria from the internet altogether how big a loss would that be to the rest of the world?

Digg posted this story over a day ago. http://digg.com/science/Man_builds_up_30,000_volts _of_static_electricity

amounts to some hired goons taking people out the the desert and putting bullets in their heads.
Thanks. Good answer. I feel like its deja vu. Someone may have explained this same thing too me a few months ago on here and I forgot.
Nice insightful comment there, skippy.

It's good to see that slashdot is FINALLY posting an article about Google.
I don't consider it an accomplishment so much as a huge failure of "Stealth".
beat out "Stealth" in the box office this weekend. Any documentary is better than a Jamie Foxx movie though :).

when Microsoft sues Slashdot and Digg.com over widely publishing ways to circumvent their copyrighted software.

I've noticed they've been getting some good scoops on the slashdot crowd recently (not that the PC fan story is necessarily one of them).
