when I got to the "See how tabbed browsing works" section of the animated tour. Good stuff! As a Safari and Firefox user, I've been using tabs for well over 2 years:)
Unfortunately, Michael Chrichton is not a climatologist. You have to ask yourself what climatologists have to gain by telling you that the stability of the climate is in trouble due to our burning of fossil fuels. For example, when ExxonMobil or Bush/Cheney tell you global warming doesn't exist or can't be proven (what can, btw?) they have a pretty clear agenda: keep making massive profits selling oil. When climatologists tell you the earth's climate is changing due to our burning of oil (and a few other things), what have they gained. Publicity and fame? Really? Name one scientist that has personally benefitted from saying that global warming is happening and we're at least partly to blame (without running to Google). Ask yourself who's got the conflict of interest and what's at stake. Then ask yourself if it's reasonable that scientists are faking temperature and ice core data.

that the iBooks will have single-core Yonahs @ 2 GHz and the powerbooks, or whatever they will be called, will have the dual-core Yonah at 2 GHz. Look for Apple to pass on the 2.16 GHz Yonah, which costs more than $200 above the 2 GHz model, to keep the prices down a bit for both lines.
Here's a random question: will I have to wait until 2007 to get a universal binary of MS Office for Mac?
at least the game is still on for heater and toaster jokes about P4s on slashdot (...those intel chips are, like, so hot you heat your house with them....). I should do one of those, they always score a 5 funny and I could use the karma.
I see, so we can just go right on ahead and burn all of the fossil fuels we can find, since global warming is an unproven theory. You know what other theories are unrpoven? Electricity and evolution. In Science, it's really hard to "prove" anything but ignoring something as potentially serious as global warming could be our downfall. Just look at the state of the environment a mere 200 years after the industrial revolution. If we continue our reckless practices, we're probably all fu%##%.
For instance, I sure am glad that OS X comes with quicktime and iTunes. How about "your mom" getting a new PC and not knowing why she can't view any files. How big will apple have to get before the EU strips iTunes from OS X?
Isn't this entire post "flamebait?" I got marked flamebait when I replied to someone that my G4 powerbook runs too hot and has short battery life and that I wished Apple would do something like Intel centrino. Oh slashdot, must you be so transparent?
after reading the previous post about the new pentium-M chips and this one, I'm a little surprised that no one seems to be complaining about the heat and power problems with the G5 CPU. As it is, my G4 1.5 GHz powerbook heats up to beyond comfortable temperatures (while on my lap) and delivers a sad 2 hours of battery life (w/ screen as dim as it can be). Maybe apple should take a page from the Intel centrino book when designing new G5 powerbooks
Apple is overdue for a philosophical change in it's deployment of OS updates. Perhaps if they used less exotic felines (I'm thinking 10.5 would be "domestic short hair") that would be a step in the right direction; which is to stop charging so much money for version upgrades and start calling them service packs.
