it doesn't really MATTER whether or not AES has some horrible vulnerability that the CIA, NSA, and their counterparts in China and Russia have all completely pwn3d, as long as it remains effective against organized crime syndicates
Right. Because it's utterly unheard of for former intelligence agency personnel to go work for organized crime.
1. "At no point did religion enter into this"? While not a religion widely practised at present, religion is right there in the first sentence of the original.
I swear by Apollo, the healer, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea...
2. The original Hippocratic Oath is practically never used. Mostly an updated version (like Louis Lasagna's) or the Declaration of Geneva are used.
3. Enforcing suffering when there's simply nothing left to be done can definitely be considered "doing harm".
Why on earth do you think that a hidden compartment in a car owned by a small business owner who has bank transaction records showing he deposits his business takings in cash to the bank each day/week would run afoul of a law that reads:
"No person shall knowingly operate, possess, or use a vehicle with a hidden compartment with knowledge that the hidden compartment is used or intended to be used to facilitate the unlawful concealment or transportation of a controlled substance."
"Controlled substance" means a drug, compound, mixture, preparation, or substance included in schedule I, II, III, IV, or V. "
Wind turbines on an aircraft brings up images of Donald Duck blowing air at the sail on his boat. That's not a good sign.
Contrary to what a simple interpretation of physics suggests, it actually is possible to propel a sailboat with a fan in that manner. However, it's highly inefficient and you'll get far better results by taking down the sail and pointing the fan in the other direction.
According to others' reports, Qi works just fine through Otterbox's lesser cases (Defender/Commuter), or at least it does with the S3/S4, just the Armour's design with the phone "forward" in the case and the thick silicone and plastic backplate puts it out of range.
What Samsung device? You can toss a Qi receiver into a S3 or S4 (both have contacts for the receiver, but don't include it for whatever reason) for $20 or less.
I'm not sitkill, but I use a Qi charger (unbranded Chinese-made charging pad) with my Galaxy S3 (with a Keedox Qi receiver) though my lifeproof case and it works nicely.
It won't work through my otterbox armour case though. There's just too much distance between the back of the phone and the back of the case.
Actually, it is magnetic. Google's charger has a magnet in it and a bit of steel or something in the phone so the coils line up on their own rather than having to position it yourself.
Try hitting the install button and see why it says it's incompatible. I think this is a USA-only thing, as it tells me "not available in your country" when I try.
Yes, but those are intended to replace one meal a day, not be your sole source of nutrition. They're nowhere near complete. That's what this tries to be, like current medical foods, but cheaper.
BMI was intended as a look at an overall population, however it's generally a good representation of people without really unique body types or lots of muscle.
Where "unique body types" make up a quarter of the population. That's how often the BMI scale miscategorizes people as over or underweight, compared to body fat percentage.
It was a halfway useful number when it was invented a century and a half ago, but the flaw in the scaling factor becomes more and more evident the taller you go, and what was exceptionally tall a century ago is the average now.
Around here, if the vehicle still moves under its own power, it doesn't merit a police report.
Other criteria for reporting include drunk drivers, injuries, an out-of-province vehicle, or a driver fleeing the scene.
They used to use a "call it in if there's over $5000 damage" standard, but people can't estimate damage worth a damn, so they went to the "does it need a tow truck?" standard.
Connecting up an home theatre computer or other video source to a TV isn't a great issue. You may need to daisy chain some converters (e.g. HDMI-to-composite-to-RF modulator-to-TV) if it's truly old, but it can be done without a whole lot of effort.

He's transporting cash.
Practically all US currency contains traces of cocaine
Therefore, he is transporting cocaine, a schedule II substance.

There's really no point in flying solar cells, they don't work any better than down on Earth
Actually, they do. Solar irradiance increases with altitude, at a rate of about 8% per 1000m.
Did you read the entire paragraph? Carmack's part of Doom 4 is done.
Certainly it's done, but whether or not it was complete is a different question.
To keep infection off of the wound after the surgery, we were simply told to keep it clean, to change the bandages, and to at most use Polysporin.
Do you not know what Polysporin is? It's a mix of 2 (bacitracin and polymyxin B) or 3 ("complete" is those plus gramicidin) antibiotics.
How often are scrapes and cuts (or even car accidents) treated with antibiotics?
All the time. What do you think Neosporin has in it?

I haven't tried it with any other cases.
Not really. Just use an appropriate membrane over the speaker/microphone. Lifeproof has been doing it for years with their cases.
Granted, you lose a bit in volume, but that can be accounted for if you're designing the device from the start to be a sealed unit.
Also, it's not magnetic - just induction.

What are your thoughts on RFC 6698 as a possible solution to the CA problem?
Them shooting themselves in the foot isn't all that amusing when the foot in question is on your neck.

That you only buy tangible property and that we haven't invented mindcandy yet?

Not only does the NSA have your data, probably any other organization interested in it is able to obtain it from them.
Yes, and electronics and other industrial uses make up maybe 10% of gold demand.
