  1. Jesus Fucking Christ. on Videogame Character Threatens National Security? · · Score: 1, Troll

This isn't funny, for fuck's sake, this is downright worrying as hell. We're talking about the government with supposedly the most intelligence in possession of the most WMDs, the biggest army, the most firearms, the most money...and they start a level three alert over a goddamned video game character. I ain't gonna be sleeping easy tonight. Mod me down all you want, but this scares the living hell outta me.

  2. Hmm... on In-Flight Wi-Fi Makes its Debut · · Score: 0

$10 for half an hour...that's about six pounds. Wow! A fifth of a penny per minute! That's about three or four times cheaper than we get normal landline service with BT over here in Britain!

Why are the airlines able to give us ultra-highspeed Internet access thirty thousand feet from any phone lines for next to nothing. and yet the biggest phone company in Europe is unable to get me freakin' 56K for more than two pence a minute?

How can I trust their case mods if I can't even trust their grammar?
(Note: the quoted sentence should use the word "what" in place of "that".)

  4. Is this going to be a popular serivce? on HP to Offer Custom Compaq Gaming PCs · · Score: 5, Insightful

I mean, don't most gamers do all of this already? The only people who might purchase these custom computers would be wannabes, surely? Your average gamer either make does with what he's got or just adapts custom hardware. Besides, there's no fun in a case mod if it comes with the PC.

  5. I know this might sound controversial, but. on How To Get Googled, By Hook Or By Crook · · Score: 5, Interesting

But I think I ought to raise a problem with Google, which this contest simply serves to underline: Google is too easily gamed. After all, just take a look at what the bloggers have done for the phrase "miserable failure". All it takes is an aggrieved group of a couple of dozen individuals and they can push anything up the ranks of Google. It's not that hard to knock someone's rank down by a bit just by getting a bunch of people to delink them. When Google recaches, their rank falls...

  6. Our theft rates particularly low in Florida? on RFID MasterCard · · Score: 1

The thing is, this really won't make anything more secure. Cashiers will probably still take the card to swipe it in front of the reader, and dishonest people will still be able to use hacked readers to steal your card's info. It won't make any difference whether the card is swiped through a slot or merely moved in front of it.

  7. I hope they keep their funding... on NASA Funds Sci-Fi Technology · · Score: 5, Interesting

When I skimmed the article summary I was going to write a comment complaining th at NASA should be investing in "proven technologeis". After all, it's the "proven technologeis" that help us about our daily lifes and help us fulfilll ourselves: space elevators don't enter into it, right? Besides, NASA needs to bring in some green and they can only do that by making proprietry software and crafts.

But then I realised something important; no matter how important it is for NASA to make money, we still have to spend money to make money. Even if spending money on space lifts causes taxes to get nothced up by a few dollars, it will all be worth it in a few decades because we will all benefit from the advanced cabling tech. Besides, every dollar that's spent on this is another dolll ar that isn't spent on military applications or other less savoury things.

Still, judging by their website, I'm a little suspicious of what they're up to! ;-) I guess their just busy working on something cool like transforming space suits, heh. Keep up the good articals, simoniger. (The shape-shifting space suits are almost certainly more useful than the shape-shifting trainers I saw linkked on Fark, anyway.)
