Where do you think DeCSS came from? It wasn't government intervention - it was the fucking market you looney!
If the government stayed out of this type of nonsense, the sheep could be fed whatever big media wanted to feed them while the intelligentsia could enjoy the freedom to decode whatever DRM-bullshit big media came out with.
The government didn't give fair use to the people. They restricted use to begin with and then opened up a very small hole and called it "fair use."
Why would it be "too big a word"? We both know that I am smarter than you. Furthermore, if you're evaluating the possible problems people will have with words based on the length of the word, you're even less intelligent than I originally thought. I hope a gang of young black males forcibly sodomize you in the near future.
Well then - you must not be that smart. A 4 year degree is designed to give the holder the needed theoretical background to easily adapt to new technologies and use them properly. Without any theoretical footing and armed with only an understanding of today's current technology, a person is ill-equipped to adapt to changes. Good managers prefer relevant experience that demonstrates an ability to operate in the real world coupled with a solid education in the theoretical background.
Furthermore, you have a very shallow view of the world. People aren't looking for a job - they should be looking for a career. Of course, I would bet that either you are vastly overstating your qualifications or you have made some very poor decisions in the past and that your company would be better off if they let you go.
So you believe that intellect is directly tied to behavior on a web forum? That's idiotic. Can't you understand that, first of all, people behave differently on the Internet and, second of all, not all smart people all behave the exact same way. Your argument is just sad.
You really made an understatement when you said, "I am not particularly smart"
As point of fact, you're particularly dumb.
Thanks for playing! I continue to be, SMARTER THAN YOU.
Where are your stats to back up your claim that cable bills don't entirely pay for the cost of programming? Well dickless? Could it perhaps be that commercials just add to the giant pile of money that is being generated by astronomical cable bills? Huh, fuckstain? What's that? You didn't think of that? Oh - because you're stupid? Yeah, I gathered that already you dumb fuck.
Oh, one other thing - you can take Farscape and shove it directly up your faggoty ass you fucking queer. 100% of the viewers of Farscape are dicklicking sodomites who should be burned at the stake for being faggots. Man on man action = not cool.
HA HA HA! You made a joke about some washed up actress being a fat pile of shit! Wow - that's so clever! Man, you're a genius. How did you ever get so witty and clever? I mean, for fuck's sake, you're a goddamned genius. Do you ever feel lonely in this world full of intellectual inferiors? I mean, you must walk around all day thinking of wry comments about all sorts of fat asses but there can't be anyone out there who really appreciates your thoughts at your intellectual level, can there? Fuck, it's almost enough to make you so sad and lonely that you put a fucking bullet in your brain. Yeah, that might be the way to go. Oh, by the way, that Flickr shit is garbage. I wanted to mock IMG_1088 because that bitch is fucking retarded/ugly but the goddamned interface is Flash. What the shit? We can't even use the img tag anymore? Everything has to be Flash? What the shit? Someone of your intellect - specifically citing your ability to make funny statement regarding really fat actresses - should know better. By the way, that bitch in IMG_1088 is a little husky. Do you drop your fat bombs on her? That would be hilarious. Tell her she's a fat cunt from me and then shove a brick through her dome, okay? Thanks, I appreciate it.
Blogging is nothing but internet diaries for desperate losers that can't get laid on a Saturday night. Fuck them - they're shit. This new journalism nonsense is bullshit. Honestly, most "bloggers" [I prefer the term fucking dick-lickers] are uneducated pieces of trash. They don't have any idea how one would report news so they fail on all levels of how journalism is judged. They're primarily writing op-ed pieces without any editor. What does that spell out? The fucking letters column in the goddamned fucking newspaper. That's really great and all but guess what - that puts bloggers on the same level as that old lady that eats cat food because her husband was a drunk and never put any money away for retirement so when he died, she thought that social security was going to be her retirement fund. Bullshit. Social security was never meant to be a retirement fund. That's fucking nonsense. And anyone who thinks that they'll retire on social security should be eating cat food. Actually, they shouldn't even get cat food. They should get my shit. Fuck them and fuck you for reading this.
The Xbox has "many" Linux users? First of all - quantify "many". What percentage of the total XBox units sold are running Linux? And how do you have this information? Unless you've got some survey data from a reputable organization [that is in business doing surveys] you can take your "many Linux users" and go fuck yourself.
Honestly, I hate people who can't think in any type of scientific or logical manner.
"If you make a copy without having that right, then you are STEALING that right from someone else. So it's STEALING!"
Huh? You're stealing the right to copy? That doesn't even make sense. You can't steal a right to do something. If I could steal a right to copy music, then the act of copying wouldn't be the problem - because I've got the right to copy it by virtue of having stolen that right. So, the theft of the right would be at issue. Your thinking is just flawed. The word "stealing" means "To take (the property of another) without right or permission." So clearly the people who are sharing music are not stealing anything because they are not taking anything - they're giving music to people without the right to do - no "taking" involved. And the people who are downloading music aren't taking without permission or right because the person they are taking it from is giving them his or her permission.
Listen, it's copyright infringment. Just accept it. There is a difference.
"The government exists to serve the people. Thus roads get built and are maintained, electricity and water is provided, as well as social aspects like museums, theaters, etc. Things that we as individuals can't afford are paid for via taxes. I'm not saying that there isn't wasteful spending of taxes, but libraries are not exactly "pork barrel" projects."
It's pretty clear we have a difference of opinion on the role of government. You're a communist.
I disagree. The government does not exist to provide entertainment for the citizens. In my opinion, libraries are a waste of the taxpayers money. Let the citizens determine what books, movies, and video games they want and vote with their own money - not by raising taxes and buying a glut of games that I have no interest in. I am sick and tired of all this.
And you suppose that libraries provide a good service for those who can't otherwise afford such things? I call B.S. Inner-city libraries are not known for being well populated with the lower castes. Libraries are mainly used by the middle class, a class that is shrinking because of the burden of taxes. Thus, libraries are only hurting those who use them. The middle class would be in a better state IF there was no income tax and they could spend a very small percentage of their budget on only the books and media they actually wanted.
In my opinion, not only should video games not be added to a library's collection but the very notion of having libraries should be rethought.
The original Game Boy was released in the U.S. in 1991. All of the modifications to that unit [Game Boy Color, Pocket Game Boy, etc.] were not forced upgrades because they still played the same games. Your Game Boy purchased in 1991, played the same games.
Now, the GBA was released in 2001. Again, the SP is not a forced hardware upgrade because the GBA SP plays the same games as the GBA. The DS was released in late 2004. So, the time between releases is quite different than your completely anecdotal discussion. You and your various parties purchased Nintendo products at interesting times. It seems that you and your various parties are very good at buying a system a few months before something new comes out. This leads me to believe that either your perception is off on the whole matter OR you are not properly researching purchases before you make them. For instance, purchasing a GBA SP a few months before the DS is released seems a little pecuiliar. Why not wait for the DS which would play both DS games and GBA games? The DS had certainly been announced "a few months" [my, you've chosen an ambiguous way to catalog time] before the official release so there's really no room to complain about the situation.
Long story short - why don't you compare the time between releases?
Come on...ignore the actual implementation and consider the effect on the game. This adds a mechanism for incorporation strategic groupings of characters. To that end, your reference of Unreal makes no sense. Unreal is a completely different game with a completely different game mechanic.
Yes - Sony, Nintendo, MS get paid licensing fees for games published on their platforms. That's why the console business, while risky and not stable, is a good place to be - the manufacturer gets a cut for every game sold.
Google for Tengen v. Nintendo for more information.
For someone with the nick "game kid", I would think this information would be well known to you.
No, theoretically he is not correct. People have a right to defend themselves with weapons. Why should the government be the only entity in this theoretical world who is allowed to own a gun?
Communism doesn't theoretically work either. I can see you making the argument to say that theoretically works as well. It doesn't. People are not equal.
If the government stayed out of this type of nonsense, the sheep could be fed whatever big media wanted to feed them while the intelligentsia could enjoy the freedom to decode whatever DRM-bullshit big media came out with.

But you're just an A.C...
Pretty high on yourself, aren't you?
Based on the above oversight, I'd say you shouldn't be.
Very clever - congrats.
You should have gone to a better school then. We didn't have TA's because I went to a place of learning, unlike you apparently.

You take it in the ass, don't you?
God Bless!
Peace, I'm out. God Bless.
Tell you what - put a bullet in your brain tonight and we'll call the whole thing even, asshole.
Honestly, I hate people who can't think in any type of scientific or logical manner.
Love the use of the word "witch" instead of "which"; high comedy.
Listen, it's copyright infringment. Just accept it. There is a difference.
Examples faggot?

You want personal responsibility - put the responsibility on the person responsible then.
