Actually, CS:Source comes with boxed HL2. DoD Source and HL1 Source are what you get if you order via Steam. So this tactic doesn't work.
Personally, I'm going for the boxed version. Better to have an actual physical copy ready because I'm an impatient S.O.B. that doesn't want to wait for HL2 to download if/when he needs to reformat Windows and reinstall all his games.
I've tried converting people I know, with some sucesses and some failures.
In my family, I've managed to get my father and year-younger brother to convert. They're both scared of potential security threats, so when I told them Firefox didn't have the security holes of IE, they immediately switched. My 13-year-old younger brother is like many other failed conversions, unfortunately - he has refused to use Firefox simply because NeoPets once didn't display properly in FF. He's also a cynical, stubborn brat who calls Firefox spyware because it's a free program and wants to get under my skin, so I've considered the little runt a hopeless case. My mother hasn't tried it yet, although I installed the program on her system last time I visited her (she lives about 100 miles away) and I hope she'll notice. She runs IE 5.5 though and hasn't had any major spyware problems yet.
As far my friends go, I have two who have used Firefox for awhile, and are loving it. I also have a guy who's sitting on the fence, and a Mac user friend who uses Safari. Ironically, I have a die-hard open-source-loving Linux friend who refuses to use Firefox since it's not out of beta yet.
So yeah, my sucess/failure rate for conversion has been about 50/50. Not too bad considering how uninformed most people are about alternative browsers (or the existence thereof).
ZoneAlarm Pro works?
If "locking up eMule and Shareaza until ZA is uninstalled" is included in the definition of "works", then you're right. I use Syagte.
Hey, with this announcement I can get my family to switch to Firefox for good. Though they're all IE users right now, dad's concerned about security and asks me for advice on it, so he'd be willing to switch to Firefox. Same for my year-younger brother (he's 18).
The problem is my youngest brother (age 13) doesn't want to switch since Firefox disaplys one of his favorite sites, NeoPets, correctly. Wonder if I should let the shrimp use IE, or bug the hell out of NeoPets until they fix their website.
Well sorry, it's that there's still a good amount of idiots in the US that thinks America can do no wrong and has no equal in this world, so we can do whatever we want and our laws/beliefs are good enough for the rest of the world.
As for the last sentence, I do have this habit of stating the obvious when I can't think of something else to close a comment with.
And for the Americans who may ask "It's Europe; who give a flying fuck?", you need to know that the entire European Union is much larger than the United States, both in population and economy. And since Germany is the EU's largest member (and the article also points out efforts in France to block the software patent laws), this this could really heat up the war over software patents.

> "Ok I'm 15 and I've been using Firefox for like an year now.." - 80% of Slashdot
:P
I take offense to this. I've been using Firefox for a year, and I'm 19.
They'd probably mistake MD5 for a movie or song anyway.

Those points are all inflammatory, that -1 moderation is deserved.

We don't need to worry too much. It's not as if Linux utilizes that technology.
