The volume of information an RTS uses simply can't fit onto the top screen completely. I mean, let's say you have four factories with five things queued each, that's already a ton of screen space since you want those items to be readable. Then you've got the minimap that can probably only show blips rather than unit icons because otherwise you don't see the terrain and unit clumping properly. Blip minimaps show unit clumping but it's easy to miss stuff like "my outpost is under artillery attack" because all units look the same on it.

It's one of his reasons why RTSes don't work as portable games, the other issue is that you can't just interrupt your train of thought in an RTS, most games have you controlling one character with only the things that can fit on the screen being relevant to your current situation, with RTSes the entire map is in play and there can be many things that aren't immediately visible even when they are on the screen (e.g. factory queues) so if you lose your memory of the situation it's not as easy to recover.

Yeah but now games get developed for console specs first and ported to the PC so the PC games have been pretty much stagnating (with a few exceptions of course) in their resource usage and I could play even new games on my 5 year old PC (until the graphics card burned out and I replaced it with a 70€ one).

But Atomic Games is a developer specialized in wargames, I'm sure they could have gotten many other teams to do a Gears Of Fallujah game but they picked AG instead. Then again there were some contradictions between the statements from the two companies about the design (IIRC AG billed it as survival horror)...

You want this whole fictional history where Christians end up being violent terrorists, and that's obviously meant to piss off Christians.

No, you missed the point entirely. It's to give people a different perspective. Currently muslim arab terrorists are seen as completely alien by the average christian American worker because we don't know about anything they have in common with us (yes, we know they're humans but the things the news emphasize are the differences, not the similarities). By replacing the religion and nation but leaving the terrorists and motivation in place we form a situation in which the opponent is not just an alien but someone like the player with only minor differences. The player will then have to question why he's fighting these people and whether he himself is the good guy. If the aliens do what we do does that make them good or is it something about the alien (like, say, their not-us-ness) that makes them the bad guys and us the good guys even when the actions are reversed?

Sony has no say in FF. The first FF got announced for the Japanese Virtual Console already, of course we have no idea when that will end up in the west.

By the way, Majora's Mask is out in Europe already and Earthbound is apparently problematic because it uses pop music in some parts and the RIAA is paying more attention now.

Kinda hard for the VC to compete with emulators fed from ROM sites, no? The VC doesn't get new games so anything it can get can be had forthe other emulators too. Now if you're looking for new games there's the WiiWare service. IMO it's quite worth it. Of course most of it isn't as elaborate and long as the VC games considering the VC games were AAA titles back in their day and WW games are developed on a fairly low budget but there's still plenty of good stuff on there.
