  1. Re:Did they bother with quality on *this* model? on Razer's New Mouse Optimized for MMO and RTS · · Score: 1

Wait, FEET? When I move my mx1000 more than 20cm away from the base I get signal errors like noone's business. Granted, that may be the metal surface it's on but the protocol used is much less fault-tolerant than the one my previous wireless mouse (cheap noname mouse) used. The old mouse sometimes didn't transmit clicks or had the pointer shaking when the signal got bad but the expensive Logitech mouse completely freaks out and moves the pointer into a screen corner or reports all buttons as pressed. The corner moving is especially annoying since in an FPS it'll completely disorient you and in an RTS or when I'm scrolling with the middle mouse button in Opera it scrolls me completely away.

As has been said before, each of the six units gets a different order so TASpring currently wouldn't do that better (though I'd expect Supreme Commander to allow stuff like that, they seem to be intent on improving the controls beyond TA including having attack orders mean "attack the units near this point" and units spreading their shots out so each target only gets as much damage as necessary to kill it, no overkilling a single target). The situation could be improved by making the lockdown command apply to only one unit so you wouldn't need to change selections for locking down multiple targets.

Starcraft's UI deficiencies surface in other areas like attempting to control large numbers of units because of the 12 unit selection limit. Blizzard seems to love it since they kept it from the original Warcraft and merely increased the number of selectable units slightly (4 to 12).

Personally I've bound the side buttons on my mx1000 to keys so I can use them in games, in Opera you can just hold the right mouse button and click the LMB for back or hold LMB, click RMB for forward. I like that, especially since I can input it with my tablet when the mouse is in the charger. Unfortunately it doesn't work in the explorer so if you use that a lot you are probably better off with leaving the default bindings.

Well, the PDAs are less controlled platforms than the PSP or DS so software is easier to come by and install (you won't see MS release an update for PocketPC 2003 just to prevent SCUMMVM from running) and their interface is superior for all productive tasks (larger screen, often higher resolution, touchscreen). I think cellphones are going into a similar direction but with added restrictions for applications.

Also it'd allow the govt to tell the robot that it's for the best of humanity to report everything you do to the NSA while your root password would be two notches lower in priority.

Some farmers sell their stuff for a premium because they are using "natural" methods for farming (don't recall the English term). They have certificates for that. If cross pollination caused your fields to be "infested" with GMO plants you lose that certificate AND you have to pay the patent holder a license fee for "using" their GMOs (while actually the producer or owner of the GMOs should have to pay you damages).

Here in Germany the conservatives push to broaden patent protection on genetically modified plants and prevent GMO infestations from counting as damage (spewing FUD about alienating the GM crop industry without these changes) while the social democrats push for restrictions on patenting organisms and laws to prevent GMO infestations. The stances on genetic modifications for medical purposes are reversed, the cons want to outlaw that while the dems want to further it. I think the situation is the same in the US. That's one of the things you should factor in when determining who to vote for.
