Would be nice if the DMCA also required the takedown submitter to forward a notice to the uploader how to file a counterclaim since I doubt that's common knowledge (and people may not even realize they've been DMCA'd).
They also manage the official rulebook which any Tetris game must follow (obviously the rules in place at the time of release) and I believe many players are not happy with the current rules with the infinite spin and stuff.
Youth labor laws? Consensual appearance in porn would still be a job and teenagers can't take jobs like that (plus they probably don't really think about what it does to their career if they get a job interview and the HR dude goes "hey, I know you from my porn folder!"). Also child pornography is persecuted because it often doesn't involve informed consent by the child.
What? Guns are part of the bread and circuses in the US, it's that illusion of being able to revolt "if we wanted to". Take that away and you get actual revolts (and during a revolt the laws don't matter anymore, people will fight with anything they can get their hands on), leave it in place and people will stay in their lull.
Bankruptcy won't overhaul the voting system, it'll cause all kinds of damage to society and the economy but it won't suddenly force a total rewrite of every bit of the law.
The Wiimote does pointing well and they demonstrated pointer-based software for Natal too, of course there would be the hope that you can point and shoot but since Natal has no controller you have nothing to pull the trigger on.
Let's not forget that the US voting system robs people of all hope for third party candidates so most vote for a guy they don't like but still don't hate as much as the other.
Weren't those promises by the president? These letters are coming from senate and congress, unless they're now deploying mind-control devices in DC those people aren't under control of the president.
Oh I'm sure inkjets live longer with OEM ink but really, do you need to optimize the lifetime of a 30€ printer so much? With the money you save on ink you can afford replacing the printer if it's the corrosion killing it (of course if it does for another reason using OEM ink wouldn't even have saved you THAT money).
Lasers use toner, not ink. It's a different substance being used so you can't conclude directly from one price to the next. Of course ink is overpriced but I don't think it takes the same effort to make the ink as it does toner.
We've had inkjet printers for decades now, you can't tell me those things require massive research investments and the mechanical complexity is (or at least SHOULD BE) all in the printer itself which they're happily selling for less than 50 euros.
Did you just call the games of the Wii, PSP and DS crap in comparison to the iPod? The vast majority of games on that thing are terribly crappy clones and with all that garbage it's hard to tell if there are any gems for it.
I've plays a PS3 demo of 3d gaming and it works really well and is far from a gimmick as some are claiming.
People see it as a gimmick because it doesn't really make games better and is only used to sell you new hardware, not because it doesn't work. Of course it works but it's not worth buying.
What does Microsoft have to do with that? The only FPSes they do are for the XBoxes and nobody here gives a crap about Halo. This is Slashdot where people still argue whether Unreal Tournament '99 or 2004 was better while the rest sits in the corner and is annoyed by the lack of new Tribes games.
I recall there being 3D glasses for PCs when 3Dfx was still around. As a journalist put it back then, it's an idea that comes around every few years, you dig out the old shutter glasses from your closet, play for thirty minutes and get the headache that reminds you while you put the glasses into the closet the last time.
Those aren't sufficient for most games if my experience with the iPod Touch is anything to go by. There's a few that are fine with it but most are very clunky.
The problem is the lack of a unifying vision. With an original project you need a project leader who can decide on the design but when the workers don't like the design dictated by the leader they leave (in a company they keep working because they're paid to work on things that may not strike their fancy). If you let everybody have a say you get design by committee or just a katamari of incompatible ideas. Deriving from an existing game, whether by making a clone or an opened codebase, at least gives a specific vision that any developer joining the project can see right away and most likely enjoys. I've seen a project where the gameplay was handled opensource style, the result is an ever-morphing mess that gains and sheds features as the participants see shiny objects and that got dominated by a derivative work that was rudimentarily maintained by one dude who followed the vision of the work it was derived from. Meanwhile players complained that the well-maintained project changed too much and was a different game every week.
In the late 90s it became standard to allow multiplayer matches with fewer discs than players but somehow that disappeared again.

To be fair that's Soviet Russia we're talking about, he didn't exactly get a choice there.

Online activation for singleplayer mode is still leagues more restrictive than what we had just 5 years ago.
Yes but then politicians are all "think of the employees!" and they'd rather shove extra bonuses up BP's ass before fining them.

"game-pack"? What's that? My 360 doesn't have anything like that, I think that's what the cartridges for old Nintendo systems were called.
I don't know about where you live but in my country creating a fake ID is a serious crime.
Eh, never happens to me. I often dream that I need to find a bathroom and then use it but it doesn't affect real life.
It can be pretty annoying to dream that you do a chore, then wake up and realize it's still not done and you have to do it again in real life.
