Just a bit of paranoia to consider.

Oddly enough I didn't get any spam about this election though, just a lot of crud about elections in Germany.

Why on earth would Motorola or any of the other telecomms equipment manufacturers support standardized VoIP protocols. It's not like they're in the business to help us communicate better for the sake of helping us communicate better.

Skype, sure. It's a truly alternative internet-based voice medium that doesn't directly compete with incumbment provider/pstn networks. No +1 NPA NNX NNNN dialing or anything Aunt Tilly would be used to.

I just don't see why they would shoot themselves in the foot by supporting SIP, IAX or MGCP.

Forget that, I'd rather see a Skype channel for Asterisk.

I'd *much* rather see convergence between telephony protocols than have yet another device to keep around. If I can pick up my cordless phone, dial a number, get an ENUM record back and let my gateway transparently pass my call to whatever $technology the other guy is using, I'm happy.

Skype doesn't do that. E164.org can help.

    • Muslim 1%

and Christians include Roman Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, and Anglicans according to the World Fact page (and other sources), so I guess you just got yourself stereo-typed.

As for you having rights, it doesn't look like you yourself have any, but that's not my problem.
