For all physical docs I take digital photos of those. Once everything is digital I follow certain procedures that include encryption and redundancy and I assign a "Digital Asset Executor" to be in charge in case I myself become incapacitated. You can read about that process here http://www.hx4.com/2012/03/07/...
Why didn't someone in that theater with a lawful right-to-carry firearm stand up and put an end to that? People must make themselves secure! Your government WILL NOT DO IT for you.
You could not have made your ignorance of the GPL any clearer. But perhaps you do so with vile intent. Perhaps you're benighted. If it is the latter, then do yourself a favor and take the time to learn the truth of the matter which you opine to. Show yourself and fellow man some respect. If you are however of evil purpose, then curses on you.
Not true, you can have many https hosts on a single IP.
1. 2. & 3. solved with open source software.
Unfortunately, PCs are now like cars, you really should show some basic ability before operating one.
Sad, it seems that the attitude of most is that they have nothing to hide. It is a hollow argument perpetuated by ignorance.
1. Your right to privace needd to be exercised or it will atrophe. Use it our loose it regardless of your need to hide something.
2. That piece of paper WILL be found with the proper effort exerted. Strongly encrypted files will NOT be read, no matter the effort. Learn yourself how to use some encryption tools.
3. It could happen if your not careful. Be careful and keep a copy of your keys in an alternate safe place.
4. Very. Backup, you should be doing it anyway.
5. You mentioned 2 of the most respected tools. Start there. Start anywhere, just start. Its important.

I keep is simple. A raid 5 array, rsync, tar and bzip2.
Then I add periodic offsite transfers.
You can build a multi TB raid array so cheap these days that you may as well build 2 and mirror them at different locations. Only a modest server is needed to control the array.
HDs are cheaper that lots of the tapes out there.
I think the term "Purchased" is being incorrectly associated with the trading of money for the right to use software. No one really purchases a copy of Windows.
reboot is only reccomended here (i.e. #6) when a kernel update has taken place. Its not what you fear.
You cant have the benefits of the kernel update without a reboot.

this has just gone past the point of no return for me. I have been a Dell customer for years and have had many people buy Dell based on my reccomendation. I have had very good experienced so far but all the complaints I have been hearing of late (quality control and cust serv) and all the India crap and I'm just disgusted. No more Dell boxes for me.
Poo smells like poo, if poo is shaped like a rose and you stop to smell it you are not fooled. It is poo.
BB will realize that someone wants hime to make poo smell good. So, will he be able to do it?

It's just proof that some suites running that place and they think they're all techie because they can use a Blackberry to send email from the golf course.

My 15/2Mb FIOS line is great but I clearly run up against servers that have less bandwidth than I do. I cant imagine more speed giving me any more benefit at this point.

Those of you who bash ESR for his statements or claimed accomplishments either don't know the history of his contributions to OSS or you patently ignore it for some reason (likely jealousy or some inferiority complex).
I never met him and I'm not sure I would like him (although I think I would based on reading much of what he has written). But those making the hack comments regarding his work should perhaps post some equivilant accomplishments.
m
so what. Its not really the point. The point is that all this "stuff" that these phones supposedly do are nothing but gimmicks so that the wireless companies can have new reason to sell and push a broken product that they have no intention of fixing; that being the simple ability to make and receive calls.

the "show me grandma use Linux for 10 days..." argument. Fact is grandma cant use Windows, OSX, Linux or any other OS productivly, by herself in 10 days. It just cant be done.
People that know how bad Windows sucks and want to get some work done for once, well, they use Linux or BSD or OSX or something that is not Windows.
