People will be doing jobs to live, not even make a living. There are people now already that need 2 jobs just to survive and then not go to the doctor, because they are unable to do that. There are people who collect cans so they can make a living. There are people who go through waste to see if there are things that they find to sell (or eat). Those are jobs that did not exist before.
So yes, people will find something to do and make money to survive.
No. Language is about being understood. A taxi/cab company is a well understood term world-wide (at least for those who understand English but the word also exist in many other languages).
I was told that "taxi" is one of the words that is understood worldwide (the other being post, as in postal service). Not sure if this is true or not.
Remember that when the next time it would be 55USD for an Uber.
When I went, I got picked up by a limousine. No idea of the price as I did not pay it. Back I took the bus from central station. I think it was 12USD or 15USD,
Apple doesn't take a picture of anyone, only a hash of a mathematical representation of the 3D scan of the facial contours created from the 3D projector.
Isn't that the same if you are paranoia? I mean, it still is a representation of you.
So basically they just said: here is the data. To me this should be illegal to do. Get a judge in there with a court order. Otherwise it should be seen as a serious breach in anything that concerns privacy. Yes, I will speak up for those that I am against. My enemies should have the same rights as me.
But then we are talking about Facebook and the US where privacy means nothing.
I don't know if you are aware, but it is customary to publish inconclusive scientific studies. There is useful information in the final report, even if there is no conclusion
There is a difference between "inconclusive" and "no conclusion". The first is that you have looked and there is no difference and the second is that you not have looked (or not enough data was available)
So in this case if the MAFIAA says that there is a difference, you can say "Bo, there is not". In the latter you would have to say "You might be right or not. We have no idea."
So I really hope that it was truly inconclusive, because that would mean that there is OFIICIALLY no influence if things are pirated or not. From that there the people in Brussels can change the laws according to these findings. e.g. do they need to be stricter or less strict. Logic should dictate that laws can become less strict.
You are aware that you can influence people without buying ads for campaigns directly, right? Just post "But her emails" several million times and people will start to think it is relevant. Say many times "We have already won" and people won't even bother to vote.
All you need to do is fool some of the people some of the time.
There's a possibility it might work. But why take that risk? Why gamble with all life on Earth?
Because we can not grok that humans are able to do this. We have it difficult to comprehend what will be going on in our own life in 3-5 years. So we can not understand, not really, what will happen in 80 years. We can look at the numbers and still not understand. We have an area where there are hurricanes and yet building codes are not to build to withstand those, even though we could. And that is just looking 10 years into the future of something that you build that would be there in ate least 25 years, We are not able to do that and you ask that we must take action for things that will happen in 80 years for whole of the world when we can not even take action for things that will happen in the next 10 years in our own lives?
Yes they can censor. The difference between a government and a company is how legal it is, not if it is censorship. Not being allowed to yell fire in a cinema is censorship. Parents telling their kids not to say fuck is censorship. And if I type f*ck instead of fuck even if it is allowed, it is censorship (self-censorship)
Wikipedia: Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information that may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by governments, media outlets, authorities or other groups or institutions.[1]
Governments, private organizations and individuals may engage in censorship. When an individual such as an author or other creator engages in censorship of their own works or speech, it is referred to as self-censorship. Censorship could be direct or indirect, in which case it is referred to as soft censorship. It occurs in a variety of different media, including speech, books, music, films, and other arts, the press, radio, television, and the Internet for a variety of claimed reasons including national security, to control obscenity, child pornography, and hate speech, to protect children or other vulnerable groups, to promote or restrict political or religious views, and to prevent slander and libel.
Direct censorship may or may not be legal, depending on the type, location, and content. Many countries provide strong protections against censorship by law, but none of these protections are absolute and frequently a claim of necessity to balance conflicting rights is made, in order to determine what could and could not be censored. There are no laws against self-censorship.
At the time they decided they thought it was a good idea to have a set of A, B, C and D addresses as private. They had no idea that every button on a toaster needed its own IP. Hindsight is 20/20.
When you think about it, there would be a better way to do DNS as well. Instead of going protocol://www.domain.tld it would have been better to go protocol://tld.domain.www That way we could have had something like:
Reminds me at when I used to work at a provide and a person had hard coded 193.168.x.y in all the companies hosts file. As they now where not seeing the local server, but some website somewhere. He asked us if we could change the standard from 192.168.x.y to 193.168.x.y. I am happy I knew where the mute button was.
Several million peoples data is on the line? Bad, but not as bad as stealing from the rich. Increasing the price of medicine to absurd hights? Nice, but don't steal from the rich, because we go after you. Fraud millions of people with shit loans and cause a worldwide economic disaster? Not nice, but don't steal from the rich, like Bernie Madoff.
Luckily you have a piece of paper that says "for the people, by the people" so that is nice. Keeps you hopeful.
Nope..don't want one of those, if someone gets your debit card, that cash is GONE and it often takes a lot to get it back.
We use PIN in Europe, so not a real issue. You can ask your bank to make your account that you do not go in debit. That way you can't go in the red or under zero or in debt. Bank cards have the same protection as credit cards, so as long as you don't give away your pin, you should be ok.
The reason I prefer CC is because I get a month free money. Obviously I pay back everything, so no interest. YMMV. Some banks/cards will charge from the moment you use them. Other have paybacks. I get 1% or something like that using the card. That is not why I use it.
Cash I use when eating with friends, because it is easier to split the bill that way. No tipping needed.
To pay one's taxes is a good reason to have a checkbook.
Not needed in Europe as we have a unified banking system where I can be to any account in all of Europe. And they do the same to me. e.g if I need to pay them, I just transfer the money and if I get money back, they just transfer it to me.
I also like to throw them checks at Costco
When you get a bank account, you will get a debit card. You use that to pay with a pin. Easier to for all as all is automated.
I like to pay most of my bills online, but even some of them aren't electronically associated with my bank, so, my bank actually cuts and mails them a physical check
SEPA is what we use all over Europe.I have done payments in other countries at other banks without any problem. All I need is the bank account number.
I have not seen any charges for bank transfers or cash payments/debit card. I see it sometimes for very small amounts for Credit Cards. e.g. 25 cents for amounts below 10EUR with credit card.
So it seems what really stops it is a unified banking system. The reason Europe has this is because they said to the banks : we do not care what you want. We order you to do this or you close shop.
I have an automatic debit from my bank to my land lord. I pay a few days late each month (with OK from my land lord) The information he can steal is the bank account number. He can not charge me anything via the bank. It has nothing to do with either credit or debit card or any information. The information I need is just his bank account number. The information I add for his and my convenience is a communication. That can be structured or free. The first one is used by large companies, so automatic systems can use it.
The thing is that first past the post is not the best way to do it. There are better ways to do it. Otherwise you have either city people ruling over rural people or rural people ruling over city people. Neither is good.
One option is that you do not just vote for the person you want to win, but also number 2 and 3. Because that would mean a more diverse group. That would mean that nobody has a majority and that would mean compromises. Compromises in politics are a good thing.
Here is how we do it in Belgium 1) When you are born or when you become an official person you get a National ID. This is your date of birth, an increasing number and a control number. That is you. However that number is NOT to identify you. It is to be used AFTER identification. If this would somehow be broken for whatever reason, you can get a new one. 2) You get an ID. Since forever when you are 12. This ID is used to well, ID you. There is a number of the ID. You can verify if an ID is valid or not on https://www.checkdoc.be/ If it is stolen or lost you call it in and it will be blocked right away. You will have to go to the police for a temp one if they stop you (e.g. when you where speeding) and you can not do anything where you would need an ID, like take a loan. You will have to get a new ID. That take up to 2 weeks.
The data on the chip can be read via open source https://eid.belgium.be/en Source is available for also Linux, so you can read the code. That ID is to, well, ID you.
The downside is that you can not block what can be read. That means that if it is read, they can read your address and age. So they could spam you. As long as you not put it in every reader you see, scamming is a lot harder (never impossible)
The thing is that the ID is not unique. You need to replace it every 5 years. It can be lost or stolen. The fact that that is possible is a GOOD thing, because that means the procedure is in place that theft is an option. Having something in place that can not be (easily) changed is the issue.
Companies, once they have identified you, will use the National Number. But only after identification. At that moment it becomes easier to use. However when identification is needed (e.g. if you want to increase your credit limit) you will need your ID again to identify you.
Since when do they need to answer to the public? And I do not mean where it is written when they should, but since when they actually do it and what the consequences are in reality when they don't do that.
Because what I now see is that there is no accountability. They are being re-elected, so there is no reason for them to listen.
It is like saying to kids they are not allowed to take a cookie and they do it. If there are no consequences, they will take another one. You can moan and yell and be upset and point at the house rules and say to wait till daddy comes home and put out the jumper cables, but as long as nothing happens and the kids know nothing will happen, it is just stress for you and more cookies for the kids.

Hindsight is 20/20.
Isn't that the same if you are paranoia? I mean, it still is a representation of you.
Could be that it should be the other way around.
So basically they just said: here is the data. To me this should be illegal to do. Get a judge in there with a court order. Otherwise it should be seen as a serious breach in anything that concerns privacy.

Wisdom is knowing tomatoes are a fruit,
Intelligence is knowing tomatoes don't belong in a fruit salad.
We hired outside contractors to ask if it where possible that contractors are a security risk and they said that was unpossible.

But we have learn to love with what was decided then and make the best of it.

Let's start by banning US OS systems., So no MacOS and Windows anymore.
