This reminds me of the part Douglas Adam wrote in "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish" where Zonko the Sane no longer wanted to be a part of a world that had to put instructions on the back of a toothpick package. Too many people are excited by the get rich ability of suing a big company for a lot of money. Claiming stupidity and the fact that the company didn't warn them is silly. Plus, it ruins it for all of the justified lawsuits out there where the company is truly at fault.
You'll find at the top of the page this interesting little message " This item is not eligible for Amazon Prime, but over a million other items are. Join Amazon Prime today.". I wonder what the official cut off limit is.
All they need to do is change the window.open function to reference to _new or _blank as the target instead of a hard coded name. Javascript is nice for disabling extra toolbars when your legitimately trying to display just a short blurb of text.
The only way this works is if you used a specific link created on a webpage. How many people are going to goto there own banks website, or other secure site, by clicking a link on some other page? From what I can tell from the code it just creates a window with the same target name as used on the citibank page then constantly checks to see if the "spoofing" window is open. As soon as you open it manually, it reloads into the same window name their url.
In FireFox if you open the window in a new tab, create a new window manually and goto the url, type in the url manually, or go via a bookmark, your safe. In other words, very very unlikely this we'll see any wide scale usage of this bug.
It's interesting to read the different definitions people have of piracy. It seems that the general consensus is that selling pirated goods is wrong while sharing pirated goods for free is alright. I must say I'm more aligned with this view myself as I look at it this way. In the example of Nintendo, I'm a loyal customer who continually puts money into their new systems that come out and because of this I don't feel like I'm doing something wrong when I play old NES games on the emulator on my computer. Is exacting extra perks really that wrong?
Yeah I'd be interested to know what size battery pack you'd have to lug around to make the thing usable for any extended duration.
Well sir all you have to do is lug around this 50lb bag and 50lb weapon. Then at a whopping 1 round a minute you'll be able to stop this 5 person protest.
I love this quote from dvd-d: "All solutions targeted at reverse engineering the DVD-D to make it playable on a permanent basis are extremely costly and complex, if they can ever succeed;
Anyway, the reparation cost would be much higher than the cost of a permanent DVD, and this would never justify the involvement of anybody in such an operation."
How many times has something that was seemingly impossible and way too costly been figured out by some tinkering person? Never say never.
Actually if you've read up on the hidenburg disaster you'll know that it was caused by a different sealant they used on the outer fabric, which had a large electrical resistivity.
Straight from my phyics book: "The fabric remained at the elect potential of the atmosphere at the zeppelin's altitude of about 43m. Due to the rainstorm, that potential was large relative to the potential at ground level. The handling of the ropes apparently ruptured one of the hydrogen cells released hydrogen between the cell and the zeppelin's outer fabric, causing the reported rippling of the fabric. There was then a dangerous situation: The fabric was wet with conducting rainwater and was at a potential much different tfrom that of the framework of the zeppelin. Apparently, charge flowed along the wet fabric and then sparked through the released hydrogen to reach the metal framework of the zeppelin, igniting the hydrogen in the process... If the sealant had been of less resistivity (like that of earlier and later zepplins), the hindenburg disaster probably would not have occured." (Fundamentals of Physics, Halliday. pg 620)
