  2. Wrote a program to control a small steam boiler on a Commodore 64. Used the user port to measure conductivity, then it would determine how much Molly to add to the condensate tank.

  3. Erosion of democracy. on Twitter Capitulates To Governments, Censors Users · · Score: 1

This is why many have signed onto Social media like Twitter and Facebook, to express their anger with their governments and plight for democracy. It is these vehicles we all learn the cries and plights of others across the world. Now these very same Social Media services are working to stiffel this movement. Makes one wonder if there is a movement towards so called World Order.

  4. Sensorship. on UK Government Wants "Unsavory" Web Content To Be Removed · · Score: 1

They are drawing a fine line here. Who knows what the government would consider as terrorist views now or later. Don't get me wrong, I have no use for extremists as they are describing, but how far will it go? Besides, is it not better to "monitor" these sites and possibly gather usefull intel rather than close them? Also it's just going to be like playing Whack-A-Mole. Whack one and two more pop up.

  5. Jack Attack on Steve Ballmer Blew Up At the Microsoft Board Before Retiring · · Score: 1

Reminds me of the stories I heard of Jack Tremel back in the Commodore days. They used to call his fits Jack Attacks. You didn't want to be on the receiving end of one of those.

Funny that you mentioned Clear Channel. I have be listening to 850KOA (Denver) and KFI640 (LA,OC) (They are owned by Clear Channel)from my internet connection in Calgary Alberta. Anyway one day they had blocked out my Canadian connection until further notice. I am able to continue listening to them through a proxy server tho. Its unfortunate that the RIAA and their greed will be the doom of many artists.

  11. Re:CanCon on Canadian Broadcasters Seek New Internet Regulation · · Score: 1

This is one of the reasons why I want to leave Canada. (better would be Alberta separate). Could it possibly be that Canadians choose to watch or listen to US content over Canadian is that because US content could sometimes be better? Why not earn the viewer ship of Canadians by actually producing something that is actually good! Or perhaps not in the narrow views of CBC! Instead of Taxing and regulating us into your crappy programming, produce something relivent and not pushing into how we should think politically or about the Kyoto Protocol! This country is fast becoming the Soviet Canukistan! Does the government really think that we are that stupid? I could easily mask my Canadian IP address using a US Proxy server. GOD! I need a drink!

  12. Re:Oh it's driving demand all right on PC Makers Say Vista Is Not a Seller · · Score: 1

Not surprised at all, need to have a min of 1GB of RAM and 9.5 or so GB just to install on the HDD. Vista seems to be mobidly obese. Its unfortunate that other good OS's are not as well supported by software vendors. I now use Mac OS a lot for web surffing. I am also using ZetaOS for just about everyday use now too (stuff like web, writing letters, etc..) I am using XP only for playing games. I realy do miss the days of when we had the Amiga, Atari ST and even the C64. Sofware vendors used to support many computer Platforms and OS's, wish they still did.

The maps shown for Calgary are seriously out of date too. I live near 68th St and 17Ave SE. and I can still see the drive-in theater there, it has been replaced by a Rona warehouse about three years ago. they closed the theater because of the Hub Oil explosion back in 1999 if I recall. At least the refinary is off the map image.
