The RIAA is much more sinister than that. Like we have seen before, CD sales are actually going UP!!! They don't want you to know that because that just makes them look silly for suing people. What the RIAA does is show you its CD SINGLES sales. The funny thing is, although they whine about CD singles sales going down they don't mention the following facts:
1) They are manufacturing less CD singles, so there are less to buy in the first place.
2) They know that 99% of people don't want to spend 8$ for ONE FUCKING SONG. (maybe 2 if you're lucky)
3) Most artists that put out singles are money grubbing whores. 99% of which are manufactured by the music industry anyway. (Spears, etc.)
The RIAA is playing with fire, and they damn well know it. They just hope that people will just watch the news, who they pay off the say that "CD Sales are down", which is only a half truth, as I just mentioned.
Actually, In my summer apt. I am geting Comcast, and basic cable for 45$/mo. The cost for just Comcast is like 60$/mo. Makes no fucking sense, but thats what it is. Oh, but they're trying to screw you anyway, because their basic sucks complete ass, and so to get a cable upgrade, you then get charged 60$/mo anyway.
Up until about the AMD 2200 XP+ the numbers actually meant something. I have a AMD 2000 XP+ on my computer which was almost the best availible at the time (2100). The numbers then meant that although the clock speed of the chip wasn't 2.0GHZ (in my case 1.4Ghz), it operated as well as a P4 @ 2.0GHz. As we have talked about before clockspeed doesn't mean that much if your architecture sucks. I always have felt that AMD's architecture was far superior to Pentium's. Of course after around the 2200, AMD decided to release processors with insane numbers just to screw with people's heads. Oh, and BTW, by processor still suits my needs very well.
Is there a way for me to go through my computer to find where this information is stored? I am currently using XP Pro, and want to know what sort of shit is being stored without me knowing it. (I hear the footsteps of/.ers everywhere behind me ready to bludgeon me with their RedHat manuals)
I already think we've exhausted this industry. I hardly see the point in having a picture-phone, but thats just me. I can understand how some people would WANT a picture phone, but not a PC phone. I can already see the army of keyboards that would come with it, smaller than a credit card. This idea hopefully won'y fly, as its also bad enough that I see people on the road with phones, and computers while driving. Imagine combining the two, I'm staying off the road if this ever gets out.
Black holes are merely supermassive objects of "real matter". They are JUST pieces of matter that pull stuff that come close to it in. They cannot stretch out space by having a bunch of them on the "fringes of space" (which may not exist anyway, seeing as the Universe is most likely infinite).
Dark Energy is one sick bastard. It has NEGATIVE pressure. THIS is the best explination to why the universe's expansion rate is accelerating. Black holes have nothing to do with it.
This is mostly due to us becoming too dependant on Japan for high tech toys. It's not like it would take much for us to compete with Japan, but as long as they're making stuff for us, I guess poeple think why bother. It's really sad, I've always felt like a second class citizen since my first Nintendo when I was 4 years old. Even then I knew that the "Japanese Version" of game I played included all sorts of minor goodies and RPG sidequests that weren't in mine. The tech market in Japan seems quite intent on taking advantage of the situation by just forcing us to accept that they are giving their own citizens much better products, and earlier as well. It's outrageous if you really think about it. Both that the US tech sector is not trying to fight back harder, and that we're still giving business to comapnies that are giving other customers better products for no other reason other than that they are Japaneese.
<sarcasam> Yeah, you're right. Lets just ignore all the data from the SCP, CHANDRA etc. It's just a litteral mountain of data. I mean, all the projects have done is pretty much proove proove that Universe's exapnsion rate is for some reason increasing. I mean, its not science at all when have actual data to back up theory... I mean damn, its called Dark Energy, so therefore it has to be bogus, and stupid. Yep. Absolutely. </sarcasam>
It's the line of thought that this lovely AC above puts forth that make me glad that I am going into Astronomy. People like him/her like ignoring such ugly things as "facts" and "evidence". How DARE us scientists investigate facts!!!

A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C155482E. The current application will be terminated. You may begin screaming in mortal terror now.
You better watch out watching music videos on MTV, the RIAA will find a way to sue you for pirating that 3rd dimension!
Oh great, now I'm gonna be ducking and dodging when I watch my Sci-Fi shows. Although Stargate in 3D would be pretty damned cool.
