P2P networks have had fairly good copies of Enterprise, at least, available within a week after airing.
A week after? Several episodes of the latest season were on available on torrents the day before airing, and every other episode (of this and every other popular programme these days) is available a matter of hours after airing.
If I had to rely on my local (UK) TV stations for good US television I'd go mad. They still haven't shown the 3rd season of Enterprise, for example, and they are currently halfway through the 4th season of the West Wing (just shown season 6 episode 11 in the US).
I think The Simpsons is 4 or possibly 5 years behind, it's hard to tell.
perhaps too many spoilers for those who haven't played the game.
For the record, I preloaded over Steam and unlocked the game 2 hours after the global release. On The Day, it took 10 minutes, I had no problems and everything worked perfectly.
Half-Life 2 is probably the best FPS I have ever played. The character animation is frankly amazing. There was a point where two characters were talking, and I could tell that they didn't like each other, simply from the body language. This game raises the bar in so many ways that I don't think it will be beaten for years to come. It was worth the wait, and then some.
YMMV, obviously.
What is really sad is that I actually learned some HTML making this post look the way I wanted it to...
Yes, it's far better to have your news media controlled by vast corporations pursuing their own, unknown agendas.
Fox News are renowned worldwide for their balanced, fair journalism, after all...

I was wondering why I couldn't get to the PA forums for the past hour or so...
You need to clear your browser's cache. The exact same thing happened to me a couple of days ago...

Give the Episode 3 script to JK Rowling and I for one would sleep easier...
