A somewhat similar thing happened during the CDN media blackout of the trial of the infamous Carla Homolka. There was a complete media blackout in Canada, and suddenly a newsgroup which Paul Vixie had newgrouped for me back when I was feeling a bit blue (alt.fan.shedevil) was taken over by a bunch of Canadians desparate for news of what was going on, and a place to talk about it, and which was beyond the reach of the CDN authorities.
Wow..it's still archived in Google groups!:

>Some movies are so bad they're good in their own way.
My favourite two in this category are:
1. Mom and Dad Save the Planet
2. Voyage of the Rock Aliens. Starring, and I use the term losely, Pia Zadora. How can you not like a movie whose best part, beside the closing credits, is the 'bonus' music video at the beginning, and the reason it's the best part is *because* it has Germaine Jackson in it?
I had Lasik about a year and a half ago and it changed my life oh-so-much for the better that it was *definitely* one of those "wow, I should have done this years ago" kinds of things.
I wrote my experiences up here

Aunty has just posted an exclusive interview with Scott Richter here.
Even better - you can submit questions and comments to Richter in follow-up to the interview, and he will answer them.
Kissy kissy,
Aunty
Actually they can't. At least, not under the terms of CAN-SPAM:
"(A) IN GENERAL.--If a recipient makes a request using a mechanism provided pursuant to paragraph (3) not to receive some or any commercial electronic mail messages from such sender, then it is unlawful-- ...
(iv) for the sender, or any other person who knows that the recipient has made such a request, to sell, lease, exchange, or otherwise transfer or release the electronic mail address of the recipient (including through any transaction or other transfer involving mailing lists bearing the electronic mail address of the recipient) for any purpose other than compliance with this Act or other provision of law."
In short, it's not ok to take the user's email address and transfer it _anywhere_, including to another internal mailing list.
