Not sure about you but I get pretty pissed off whenever I buy a new hard drive.
You pay for a 120gig hard drive but they give you a 108gig hard drive. You pay for a 320gig hard drive but they give you a 298gig hard drive. You pay for a 750gig hard drive but they give you a 698gig hard drive.
Mathematicians generally dont buy hard drives so they have no reason to complain about it. Your mother also doesnt seem to be the type who buys drives.
When I say too much data to handle I dont mean hardware constraints.
In cases where there is a specific target involved, e.g. a criminal then it becomes a valuable crime fighting aid. Then a individual's data can be effectively used.
A computer can store all the data but for it to be meaningful to anyone it has to be distilled in to statistics. The data is useless otherwise.
PHP its self is very good. Its the sloppy coders who give it the bad name.
I've seen atrocious code where you can tell that just because the coder knows how to do a for loop in BASIC it means it can become the next Bill Gates.
The government isnt corrupt. Its just not acting in the nation's best interests.
Which is why I'm in Australia.:)

Or even ditching DX completely and using OpenGL.
Game companies arent stupid. They know people are trying other OS's. Google, id software, Epic and others have moved accordingly. I'm betting that other companies are considering it.

I disagree. Computers are far superior to consoles and they can also be hooked up to big tvs with surround sound.
I agree with your point about how Windows is no longer the ideal gaming platform however.

The big question is if the bad driver support is Microsoft's fault or if all the vendors just cant be stuffed.
From what I've heard its because of what Microsoft's done which makes it nearly impossible to make a stable driver.
The crash investigators need to know what kind of music the pilot likes you know. If the pilot dies then the iPod will be crucial in getting this information.
Thats only because hard drive manufactures can boast bigger numbers by using decimal instead of base 2.

Its called Context.
I've broken many captchas using small PHP scripts to de-mangle the image (GD) and standard free open OCR software.
But thats in the EULA - the thing that uhh....went missing.
Stars change far too slowly for us to actually measure over a short period of time.
Your missing the point. Its a tiny patch.
The patch for XP should be pretty much the same for 2k.
Not at its age. Far too young.

Your afraid of them from tracking everyone?
:P
IMHO the government doesnt give a shit about you.
With so much data it can only be useful as statistics.
Personally I am fine with stats.
And they should all get their DST info from the zone files.
Just because you havent learnt about how the type system works doesnt mean its crappy.
Hey I use other people's phpinfo pages for debugging HTTP headers. :)
Its bloody helpful.

Do explain the following:
a) Why cant they do that right now?
b) How does a national ID help them track you?
No reason why you cant just stick the new zone info files in to the old OS.
But all Linux had to do was update its zone info stuff.
Why is Windows so much harder? Didnt they do it properly?

As another poster pointed out: Try powering a lightbulb on a bike.
My Lifedrive with its tiny compact flash hard drive has had some pretty spectacular falls.
The most notable would be flying off a lecture room table and hitting the floor two meters below.
Still works perfectly.

Sony has bad batteries too. Better avoid them more than MS.
