I want networked computers in my car. I want to be able to control my own car via these methods.
I want the networked computers to be open so both I can utilize it in ways I wish that the manufacturer has never thought of, and so security researchers can verify that they are secure.
They also escape having to deal with any Microsoft authored code which is a bonus.
It's almost like cheating. If I was on the dev team I'd probably introduce a little bit of Microsoft code just to give myself a challenge so the automatic upgrading script isn't too simple to write.:P
Good thing it works on a few dozen machines. Just a few million to go.
Suspend CAN work flawlessly on both Windows and Linux. It CAN be extremely flaky for some people. It's the luck of the draw whether someone can read the specs correctly when doing device firmware.
In that instance "most Linux systems" actually means "very few".
The media loves Linux flaws and will exaggerate them extensively. Linux flaws are novel. Windows flaws are like shootings in the US - no one bats an eye any more.
Yes it's very similar to Internet Explorer which also cannot be backported.
That's the official line from Microsoft anyway. Why a web browser is tied to a OS version is beyond me. DX to be fair has some interaction with graphics drivers so its slightly more involved, but not much. Graphics drivers work just fine on XP for example, so could the new DX with some work.
The Bing toolbar scraped Google search pages, copying the results verbatim. Just because user's browsers did the scraping rather than Bing servers is fairly irrelevant.
If game devs were smart they'd start using OpenGL more heavily so their success of their game was not tied to Microsoft's ability to not screw up a OS release.
Wanting to play a game isn't really a great reason to upgrade your operating system, especially if the downsides are fairly crippling (thinking about 7 -> 8). It is however a smart move by Microsoft to artificially refuse to backport DirectX to previous versions.

*most of these under warranty!?
Removing a single item of a package costing more significantly more than including it seems a *bit* odd though.
Otherwise logically you'd buy all their products and the total bill would be $2.50.
But no I'm sure Oracle has already thought of that. It will cost more to remove a product and it will cost more to add a product.
The people that have been arrested or have lawsuits filed against them have done large scale infringement?
The summary says the lawsuits are about a single movie, and the arrests aren't about any infringement at all?
Err thats why there is already an open source driver?
Open sourcing more of the specs (some specs are already released) would allow that driver to improve in leaps and bounds.

Not really. Suspend just completely sucks everywhere.

Chances are they aren't producing much of their electricity domestically any more and instead are importing.
They didn't shut down their nuclear reactors and a whole bunch of coal plants just sprung up everywhere to take up the slack.
Everyone put your hand up if you want the Windows 10 kernel with the XP Interface?
It would sell like hotcakes!
Or would the employees be more productive with a $2.50 pay rise?
Problem with that is the DX 12 video card works fine on say Vista, and the DX 9 video card works fine on Windows 10.
If the drivers that support newer DX versions supports older operating systems, then the DX library can be ported easily enough.
Newer versions of Windows also keep the old DX versions around as well.

'Seeing' is Bing devs doing a few Google searches.
'Copying' is programming IE to report back what results Google is showing, then displaying the exact same results.

They got caught red handed.

Unless it is using /dev/urandom of course in which the security will decrease, but it won't block the app.
Which is why you never use /dev/urandom for crypto, and you never use /dev/random for a dice rolling app.
Does it better match the lifestyles? Or did the lifestyles adapt to take advantage of the timezone?
No way! They wouldn't let someone else make profit from their work.
No they instead made it completely unhackable except for their back door which will open after a few million dollars are sent to their bank account.
They are printing that slogan on banners as we speak.
Windows 10: Now Workable!
Selective reading. The OP also mentioned 'conventional'.
There is nothing conventional about it's axles.
By that logic, energy doesn't harm the environment either because it can be from solar/wind/hydro/etc...
Fresh water isn't infinite nor free.
It makes a big deal if it is treated fit for human use water or grey water or from a lake/pond/river.
Hopefully WEE takes that in to account.
How does it have conventional axle assemblies if there are no axles in the entire thing?
You missed the bit where it said that each wheel had a hub motor in it.
