The speed increases with physical size. You simply cant fit too much cache ram on to a cpu's die. A alternative is to use slower ram but that slows down the entire computer.
Plus it would be stupid to have to replace your CPU to upgrade your ram.

I think it should be optional but very easy to use.

When your only audience is nerds who know what they are doing, you simply wont get any clicks.

Well a smoke detector can run off a 9v battery for well over a year.
The detector part cant use too much.
