    I think it should be optional but very easy to use.
    Make it easy enough and $5/month beats piracy.

    Also payment should be by the number of downloads.
    Not difficult to track and more effective.

    A torch makes perfect sense.
    They used torches before electricity and lanterns to light up dark areas.

    I dont see why they have DRM. Its there to prevent unauthorised sharing.
    When your giving it away for free it kinda loses its purpose.

    Whats wrong with a mp3 with ads on it?

    When you control someone's DNS, there are many ways to trick them in to accepting a fake CA.

    Hell they could even skip the social engineering techniques and just impersonate Windows Update.
    A security 'patch' which installs it without the user ever knowing.

    Doesnt Bluray have significantly higher capacity?

    A HD-DVD burner isnt worth it unless the blank discs are extremely cheap when there is a superior competitor when it comes to space.

    Dont forget that they own Sourceforge.
    They arent short on cash at all. They are rolling in it.

    As long as they dont interfere with my browsing experience, I dont mind.
    They do good things but once they start doing stupid things with ads, they have gone too far.

    I honestly dont know why they bother with ads so much.

    When your only audience is nerds who know what they are doing, you simply wont get any clicks.
    Putting more ads on just makes the problem worse.

    The GPL has obligations for the author as well as the users.

    He released it under the GPL. He now has to stick to it.

    Or he is selling it to a company who doesnt like the idea of their software being free.

    More likely the patent holder's pcckets not their lawyers.

    I cant see any reasonable judge being able to see this in the patent holder's favor.
    Unless his bank account is also padded.

    The reason why they use cache ram is for its stupidly fast speed.

    The speed increases with physical size. You simply cant fit too much cache ram on to a cpu's die.
    A alternative is to use slower ram but that slows down the entire computer.

    Plus it would be stupid to have to replace your CPU to upgrade your ram.

    Well a smoke detector can run off a 9v battery for well over a year.
    The detector part cant use too much.

    Slight decrease in life by the transmitting part. Probably insignificant.
